The #BetterKCI plan is falling apart by the minute . . . Here's confirmation of the busted process about to get even more interesting.

Council members contact Burns & McDonnell, AECOM on new KCI
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After another airport committee meeting with no agreement from the airlines, several council members decided to reach out to Edgemoor's former competitors, AECOM and Burns & McDonnell, for more financial details of their plans for a new terminal at KCI.
Does the entire 'airport committee' have a mental problem.
ReplyDeletei know politicians and their helpers like to cause mental problems.
ReplyDeletethe city's aviation department has no comment.
ReplyDeletewho has the entire list of who is on the airport committee?

you 6 ppl are insane if you think you can pull together a decent airport by making a couple phone calls.
ReplyDeleteDO not blame the airlines for being reluctant to sign on to this absurd proposal. The proposal is way to pricey and the airlines see through all of the airport committee's smoke and mirrors.
ReplyDeleteedgmoor does need to be fired, but sure we can hold onto all the over eager, inexperienced, minority, construction subcontractors bidding on incomplete sets of plans.
ReplyDeleteMotion of no confidence
ReplyDeleteI still say a remodel is appropriate, build tsa a building at one end of the terminal and then after the passengers clear them they would have unfettered access to the entire terminal, easy peasy!
ReplyDeleteYou’re welcome, didn’t cost the taxpayers a dime!
Regional Airport Authority. Let KC focus on Open Spaces arts events.
ReplyDeleteTold you so. This whole fiasco is a way to give the work to Burns & Mac.
ReplyDeleteAt this rate the bill will pass $3 billion without a shovel full of dirt even having been turned.
ReplyDeleteAll in consulting, planning, and legal fees.
A brief glance at the roster of the "Airport Committee" gives anyone a clear understanding of why this "project" is where it is today, how it got here, and at least a hint of where it will all end up.
It's really too bad the airport isn't in Johnson County where some local government competence and accountability could be brought to bear.
KCMO continues to be the laughingstock of the entire region and next up: The farcical mayoral election.
Wagner, Barnes, and Loar are asking questions because they slowly realized exactly how badly Jolie Justus fu*ked up the selection process as Chair of the committee.
ReplyDeleteLoar jumped reeds ass yesterday for making phone calls to the airlines behind everybody’s back, he sat there and cowered like a little baby!
ReplyDeletewhy is everyone assuming that the airline industry is static based on edgmoor's research of total required gates needed?
ReplyDelete6:02, you put the tsa between two terminals on open ground, and consider feasibility/programming to incorporate a 3rd terminal in an aviation facility in an expanding or shrinking metro and regional area.
If SW wants to make this some sort of hub, per media rumor, by all means shrink the airport and rip down 2 terminals?
ReplyDeletesnippets & rumors
ReplyDeleteloar seems the most sane, but do you take the lonely initiative to go to a friend firm and ask them to draw up plans?
ReplyDeletereed taking the lonely initiative to talk to airline executive is absurd.
ReplyDelete8:24 there are 30 gates per terminal for a total of 90, I’m intrigued by the tsa in the middle of two terminals, although that would be a very, very large area in between them. The current design is for a thirty gate airport by the way.
ReplyDeleteapprox 250 yards between the outside tips of two terminals, according to google earth. Do we need to cross reference the sprawls at other airports.
ReplyDelete215 yards
ReplyDeleteReed is inherently less intelligent than all the other council members with the possible exception of Canady. Reed should not be allowed to have anything to do with the airport. Neither should Sly.
ReplyDeleteA lot of mayoral campaigns to fund, and B & McD will be able to expense their contributions back to the City. Circle of Life.
ReplyDeletelooks like there is approximately 330 yards between the two gates wings at st louis
ReplyDeletethen there is an 'e terminal' about 1/2 a mile down the road
ReplyDeletenever been to that airport, just the bus station.
ReplyDeleteFor 1.9 billion and counting, the new airport should look like the freaking Taj Majal.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone realize that for 1.9 billion, we could build new stadiums for the Royals and Chiefs, a new aquarium at the Zoo and still have nearly a billion left over to remodel KCI?
ReplyDeleteCalled It!
