Public discontent with the the legacy of Kansas City Mayor Sly James is palpable and this morning our blog community shared a somewhat recent sign of the times.
To wit . . .
URBAN CORE GRAFFITI CALLED OUT MAYOR SLY AND HIS AFFORDABLE HOUSING RECORD!!!
A denizen of our TKC blog community notes: "This was written on the old Ramada inn on Front Street!"
As always, we encourage our readers to obey the law but given that the Park Place was demolished last year . . . It doesn't really matter. Moreover, the legacy of the building speaks to late capitalism ethics gone horrible wrong and biz leaders walking away from their responsibilities whilst leaving KCMO with a financial burden.
Look closely at the demolition footage and you'll see the tagging that no other news outlet bothered to notice or report until now.
FIRST on TKC thanks to AWESOME TIPSTERS!!!
Developing . . .
nice to see that construction workers keep up with the news and have a great sense of humor.
ReplyDeletePark place was da bomb back in the day. Lots of freaks, swingers, and good times back at that place. I guess that party continued after it was shut down but that's a little too dirty for most reasonable people.
DeleteThe tagger left obvious clues that he is a product of local public schools.
ReplyDeleteFirst rule of tagging, buy a dictionary .
ReplyDeleteWhat good is a dictionary if you can’t read it?
DeleteThe meaning is if your downtown you’ll be taken care of, every body else is screwed.
ReplyDeleteSpelling is fine it is making N's and S's from the backward down position that threw 'em off. Actually did a good job considering their position. Good on 'em.
ReplyDeleteJames will be broke by the time he is 70 years old.

ReplyDeleteThese folks don't seem to understand that "affordable housing", just like increasing the minimum wage, women's issues, and all the others coming from city hall, are merely opportunities for Sly and the gang to run to the front of various "movements", make impassioned speeches, and then go away.
ReplyDeleteNone of it has anything at all to do with the public policies that they relentless pursue.
Like subsidizing "luxury" apartments, increasing regressive sales taxes, wasting tens of millions on "projects" of insiders and grifters, and all the rest of what ingratiates the electeds to their campaign contributors and future employers.
Surely people can't still be fooled.

ReplyDeleteWhat's the opposite of the Burns and McDonnell headquarters expansion? No city blight designation, no multi-million dollar tax breaks, no earnings tax exemptions, and no city financing for a wealthy private company's project!!!
But 12:55 how could the lawyers, politicians, and parasitic hangers on hogs at the trough get by if those respectable things happened?
ReplyDeleteYour home town team pillaging the home town piggy bank
How about that Airport, who set that boondoggle in motion, the gift that keeps on giving, why it was your home town team with some help from the inside fix, attempted, failed, but still making a mess of all things airport
ReplyDeleteWow, our very own illiterate Banksy.
