TKC MUST READ!!! KCPD CHIEF TOUTS SPY TECH CRIME FIGHTING IN KANSAS CITY!!!

Judging from last year's crime stats, getting away with murder in KCMO remains about a 50/50 proposition.

Yes, the clearance rate was 73% but the CONVICTION RATE takes a few years to verify. And don't forget quite a few local murder victims who get "disappeared" and don't make the stats.

Nevertheless . . .

IN HIS LATEST POST, THE KCPD CHIEF CLAIMS CRIME FIGHTING SURVEILLANCE TECH HELPS CATCH MORE CRIMINALS!!!

He provides an important example of a murder case solved by video footage.

Moreover . . .

This is a bold statement because it the reliance on surveillance tech seems to contradict previous efforts to bolster community policing.

Here's the argument and a warning to all of KCMO residents that they're being watched.

KCDP: With expanding technology, perpetrators of violent crime are more likely to get caught in KCMO

Deets:

Our message is to anyone thinking about engaging in violent crime or who knows anyone thinking of engaging in violent crime: it’s becoming more likely every day that you will get caught. There are parts of this city where we will detect your gunshot, see your license plate and capture your face on video. And those areas are expanding.

(Technological) advances have gotten us access to more public surveillance cameras and brought us more private surveillance camera partnerships. In addition to fixed-camera partnerships with entities like the Missouri Department of Transportation and the City of Kansas City, we have mobile surveillance cameras we can move around to different parts of town experiencing high crime.

These cameras work with our other public safety technology – like license plate readers and the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system – to help us identify guilty parties and prevent crime. The Police Foundation of Kansas City funded about half of these purchases, and I am very grateful for their donations. They, along with City officials who saw the importance of this equipment, are making our city safer.

  1. it's a nice premise but it still requires prosecutors and judges to do their part, that's usually where the process falls apart.

    1. The data collection is mostly used to monitor any suspicious political activity, too.

  2. I think KCMO is on the way to becoming like London where people have to wait for a day for the police to arrive to a 911 call. If the do at all.

  3. Block to block house searches is the only way to achieve any meaningful results. Since that cannot happen we need vigilante groups to form in the black community. Leave a note on the bodies so the cops know what's up.

  4. I think the tech helps, but it only does so much for a segment of the Kansas City population that doesn’t care if they get caught a whole lot. It’s a culture of going to prison that gets you respect, and doing well in school means you are an Uncle Tom.

It helps get a possible serial shooter off the streets, but there are waves of baby momas out there with multiple kids often with different fathers who are all absent to provide fresh numbers for MDOC.

Crime won’t change until the culture changes. Culture will always outpace any strategy.

  5. The black community will have to put out their own trash.

  8. Excellent comment at 8:37. The rest is just trash from people who are too stupid to stop watching faux news.

  9. Stop prosecuting people for stupid traffic tickets and you'll get the crime rate down lower. The system is just looking for more money to perpetuate itself.

  10. Many of the previous comments about behavior and the responsibility of the black community are right on the mark.
And it certainly can't hurt to have some more sophisticated equipment, as long as it's purchased to fulfill a part of a policing plan that's already been developed, and not just because it's another piece of nifty must-have stuff.
But the number of homicides has barely moved (except up) over the years and the murder clearance rate is still around only 50%, so it's hard to be serious about much if any progress.
Think of the number of officers who could be hired and even more equipment bought if the city and county would just stop wasting millions every year on all the worthless unaccountable fake nonprofits.

Set some performance standards and accountability, cut off funding, and use the money to much better purpose somewhere else.

  11. Cameras are great but they cannot stop Crime! Hire more patrol Officers!!!

  13. We need to get rid of liberal faggot judges.

  14. Jean Petersucker Baker is a terrible prosecutor. If we had a good or even adequate prosecutor, crime would go down. We have a worthless prosecutor. Jean Petersucker Baker has neither the skill or the desire to aggressively prosecute hood rat criminals.

  15. You cannot be there to stop it. Harsh swift justice is the only logical approach. The price of the crime must become a prime consideration before it is committed. Increase in death penalty sentences resulting in within a year public hangings. Include all crimes using a gun, rape and human trafficking. This makes room for others to serve time not probation living next to you.

  16. People need to cooperate with police and say something when they see something, that is more than half of the problem. People who don't care they help criminals with their silence.

  17. Instead of going out to fight crime we'll just sit back eat popcorn and watch it on camera.

  18. Kansas City needs Robocop.
