TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! COUNCIL THREATENS NEW KCI AIRPORT REBID AMID DELAY AND COST OVERRUNS!!!

Behind the scenes the crisis over delayed construction of the Kansas City airport is reaching critical mass.

A couple of local news outlets are reporting "frustration" and the upcoming Airport Committee Meeting in a couple of hours but that's history not news.

Here's the new hotness FIRST on TKC . . .

BEHIND THE SCENES COUNCIL IS THREATENING EDGEMOOR WITH AN EPIC AND DEVASTATING REBID BECAUSE OF THE NEW KCI IS SIMPLY MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WHAT AIRLINES ARE WILLING TO PAY!!!

Here's the sitch as it stands now . . .

- Southwest is stalling. They've been talking with both Mayor Sly & Council in order to get cheaper rent and push smaller carriers out. More than any other company, they demand a new airport specifically designed for their specifications.

- The building was supposed to begin in December. Everybody from the Mayor to the daily newspaper promised as much. Construction isn't even close to starting.

- The new airport and Edgemoor need at least $48-MILLION in KCMO bond financing to continue. Aviation doesn't have the cash to keep the project afloat and Council will be forced to vote on the issue before an election without some decisive action . . . So expect local politicos to be more hawkish.

Meanwhile . . .

A great many MSM reporters are carrying Mayor Sly's rhetoric about a "baggage dispute" that turned out to be nothing more than absolute deception.

Reality . . .

THE NEW KCI AIRPORT DESIGNED BY EDGEMOOR COSTS AT LEAST 4 BILLION BUCKS AND THAT'S FAR TOO PRICEY FOR THE AIRLINES!!!

As with all things, this debate is really about money and both TEAM SLY and local media find the topic too uncomfortable to address in a forthright manner.

Developing . . .

  1. We need to talk about renovation again. That should at least be on the table if Sly and Edgemoor can't get it done.

    1. Not what Kansas City voted for at all. And the bond issue was also not part of the deal. They said KC wouldn't have to pay a dime the interest on the bonds is coming out of the pocket of John Q. Taxpayer. Totally unfair, totally a bad deal. Totally Sly.

    2. Let's just scale back!

If we tell them that we don't want a Cinnabon after all, maybe the price will come down. It doesn't hurt to ask.

  2. People need to start going to prison over this mass deception. You can’t do this to the taxpayers.

  3. But the long lines! What about the lines. Maybe somebody should tweet photos of lines in order to convince voters. A lot of the opponents said that was all just marketing gimmicks, turns out they were right. Too bad the Democratic Party rigs most of the votes in this town.

Just like any big city, a lot of voters are just invalids who are taken to the polls. I guess it's better than the good old days when they used to hire drunk bums to do the voting.

  4. Damn shame but a lot of people said this would happen.

  5. And who said Burns and Mac wouldn't wind up with this deal?

    ^^^^^^ +100

Burns & Mac is ready and can do it for cheaper. Let them at least have a chance.

  7. Not a rebid.

    Rehab.

KCI is still usable and works well. Don't throw it away, don't waste.

  9. Sly screwed this one up by rushing it. If we do put this thing out for bid again, it needs to be with a new council. The last one had their chance and THIS is where they got us.

  10. New Vote!! Now

    ReplyDelete
  11. Way past time for a rehab. If KCMO had properly maintained the existing airport as opposed to their planned obsolescence plan the rehab would not be anywhere close to $4,000,000,000.

    1. This is what our city does, let's it decay to the point where it has to be replaced. See our bridges and our jail and now the airport soon it will be the sports complex! #thisshitsgottostop...

  12. Nothing like beating a lame horse when it's down. How about the council using their time to deal with more important and critical needs of the city.

  13. I love everyone in local government trying criticizing trump where they're fucking over every resident of KCMO through expensive bureaucratic bullshit. Edgemoor will probably have a huge ass lawsuit too if they aren't chosen a second time. God damn this city is retarded

  14. What's alarming is most of those running for mayor are responsible for this mess.

    ReplyDelete
  15. My new plan is take one terminal and build a building at one end of the terminal that every passenger passes through, tsa is set up in this building, you get to keep all the gates this way. All the passengers that get through tsa have complete acces to the entire building, free to roam and enjoy any of the food, gift shops and restrooms. Pretty simple actually.

  16. Need Regional Airport Authority. KC is to corrupt.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Bad process all along, and surprise, surprise, bad outcome. How Troy, Robbie, and the regional planning bodies duck any responsibility in this is so wrong.

This is a consequence of Sly and Company, setting the failed fix, and the original sin just keeps on giving.......

    ReplyDelete
  18. Kansas, how are you liking the KC Missouri show representing our region

    ReplyDelete
  19. ^^^ CORRECT!! That means YOU Jolie, YOU Quinton, YOU Scott (both of you bafoons) and YOU Jermaine! Leave it up to a bunch of attorneys and career politicians to make a mess! Show some leadership and start over!! All the way over...Burns and Mac and/or the JLL Group should NOT get this project by default.

    ReplyDelete
  20. All they need to do is rename the project with the word “affordable” in it. You know like how poorly managed democrat run projects get called. Affordable housing affordable healthcare....etc etc. which ends up being not affordable but the name gimmick is their tactic.

The affordable transportation plan for KCI or something along those lines. Oh what’s that? You said affordable? I guess I need a boat load of new taxes on me and everyone else!

    ReplyDelete
  21. The dummocraps version of affordable involves massive tax payer subsidies, Obamacare is a prime example, the people buying it paid $1500 a month while the taxpayers picked up the other $1500 a month, how the hell is that affordable? My employer provided ins for my family cost around a grand a month of which I pay about $350, my employer picked up the rest, why does Obamacare cost three times as much? This is the core of anything the democraps do, charge three times as much so they can make money and their rich friends make money. And you people love voting these lyin, cheatin crooks in.... and you’re happy about it, you people are sick

    ReplyDelete
  22. ^^^^^^+ 1 million

    ReplyDelete
  23. Stay focused, we're talking about transportation, it's important.

    ReplyDelete
  24. JOLIE JUSTUS COMPLETELY BOONDOGGLED THIS AIRPORT TERMINAL DEAL!

    NO JUSTUS IN KCMO 2019!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Common sense dictates something is wrong. Common sense dictates starting over. However, council does NOT have the guts to start over and re-bid. Sad. All this will price out low cost air carriers and lack of airline options WILL affect future economic development for years to come. Just sad. KC continues to think and act like a cowtown. Take the time to do it right. Please.

    ReplyDelete
  26. cowtown without cows, exactly.

    ReplyDelete
  27. After nearly $80 million spent on everything from consultants to crooked politicians and airport cronies its more effed up than imaginable, nobody involved has any idea what they’re doing. How much more money has to be wasted on a project that nobody is smart enough to get started? No wonder we’re flyover country. The ghetto of the plains!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Damn this city is retarded

    ReplyDelete
  29. Even the Venezuelans couldn't screwed this up worse.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Stall till they can give the contract back to their donors like originally planed

    ReplyDelete
  31. My hope is that KC can get out of this contract without significant financial penalty.
The City should go thru the elections and take another look at the airport in the next year or two.
The renovation of the existing airport may be the best way to go now that the cost of a new airport is $2 billion or higher rather than the $1 billion figure which was voted on.
At the end of the day, we have a stalemate with many smaller airlines ready to pull out of KC if this deal goes thru as it is.

    ReplyDelete
  32. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Excellent comment. That is what should happen.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If there is another bid, we should bill the cost to the mayor and the council. They totally screwed this one up.
