THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! KANSAS CITY RESTAURANT WEEK 2019 FAILED BECAUSE THEY FORGOT WINTER AND SHUT DOWN GUV WORKERS!!!

Once again the traditional foodie fest in the cold of Kansas City January has been a magnificent flop.

The same complaints continue to confront KCMO Restaurant week:

- The service is bad because the servers aren't fairly compensate for the rush.

- The options are horrible and include a lot of aftermarket cast off fare.

- It's overpriced for the luxury of being judged by a handful of local hipsters.

This is all important for taxpayers because the event is backed by taxpayer subsidized Visit KC and "neighborhood" tourism cash.

Of course, two arctic cold fronts pretty much killed attendance for the event.

But here's the worst thing . . .

THE KANSAS CITY HIPSTER PARTY FORGOT ABOUT FED WORKERS WHO COULD'VE USED A WINTER TREAT!!!

Example, inside the beltway, a celebrated chef is using his star power to make a bold statement and garnering a lot of love:

José Andrés feeds nearly 12,000 furloughed federal workers

Yeah, yeah, the KC foodie event has a few foodie beneficiaries but the help is minimal and this event has always been about maintaining a KCMO culinary "scene" in a town that just wants BBQ and fries. \

And so we blame organizers who play marketing genius for KCMO but have once again presided over yet another disaster partially paid for by residents who weren't invited.

And all of this inspires our playlist tonight . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.

  2. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but we dined out three times during Restaurant Week (at participating restaurants) and were pleased with each experience. Good food, good service and a way to learn about the MANY options available around the metro.

  7. As a furloughed federal employee I was able to attend KC Restaurant Week for 4 meals! Two lunches during the middle of the week and 2 late night dinners. Only drawback was by the 4 th time they were out of the free Stella Chalice five always. Now I do t have an even number set. As a federal employee, you’re supposed to show me great sympathy and give me yours!

  9. The event is kind of dated. Not a real draw. It was fun the first two times. If you haven't gone, you should check it out but I don't know if I'll go back next year. Maybe if they do something extraordinary.

  10. I like restaurant week. A cold dark winter night is a good night to try and draw people out for a nice dinner. Some of the deals are better than others. We always do the jack stack dinner but this year the quality was a little off on my dinner,to be honest. My burnt ends were pretty bad, and underwhelmed by the ribs and chicken. But it was crazy busy when we went so maybe that was why.
    Thanks
