  1. The fair weather toy train should be used as a warm shelter for the hobos.

  2. Johnson County has affordable housing that's what took the city down. That and trashy people like Sharice Davids and her mother. EWWWWW. I sure don't want to spend big money on a house and have projects close by.

  4. Maybe the League of Women Voters of Johnson County would like to build some affordable housing for others to rent/purchase.

  5. if you can’t afford to live in joco you don’t deserve to live in joco.

  6. The report didn't say some things. Like Johnson County has always been the area in the greater KC area that has the highest level of education. That's right part of the problem is that people that stay in school migrate to live by like people. JOCO also has the lowest crime rate but you do see problems like robbery, sex crime, murder creeping in where areas of JOCO have section 8 housing and surrounding neighborhoods. Also JOCO has the nicest regional shopping mall and twice in the past six months hoodlums have come to that location and even a church and have done shootings. The report also did not say that most JOCOians live in two income households so entry level housing is good for a young couple where their joint income is about 35-50 K, it is affordable for them. The problem comes in when they qualify to buy a JOCO home but fail to keep it up. Also this area has the best schools and we pay for them, vote for the bond issues and participate in the children's school activities and sports. There are other areas trying to replicate the success of JOCO but when residents have started down the wrong path it is hard to get the ship turned around. There really isn't anything that needs to be changed in JOCO.

  8. For decades people working in Johnson County have lived in surrounding communities like KCK, Grandview, and KCMO. Why is it such a terrible thing now? Greedy developers want cheap land and tax breaks to build cheap homes in prime areas, that's why.

  10. JOCO needs less affordable housing, if anything. It's slowly going to shit already. Oak Park Mall is turning into Somalia

  11. Some people who work full time can't afford to live in JoCo, but people who don't work full time or at all qualify for Section 8 and can afford to live there. As usual the government is helping the wrong people.

  13. @ 11:58 is correct. All section 8 housing does in JOCO is to take nice apartment complexes and make them trashy complexes. The inhabitants tear them up. Don't respect cleanliness. Bring in rats and mice and other vermin. Bring in crime. And make complex owners slum lords. I'll bet that 75% of apartments in that area have multiple unrelated people living there which is probably against the terms of the lease. Look at 75th street between Nieman and Quivira Roads, nothing but very low income and they degrade the area by not keeping it nice. It won't be long they will want to take over the new complex at 83rd and Quivira.
