The Kansas City Power Rankings

Hope is running high for Kansas City at this late hour. Without question KCP&L really holds all the power in this town. This week the company overcame public criticism with a great deal of effort and manpower in order to restore electricity to 100K homes hit by the winter storm. Tonight, locals are simply praying their lights stay on . . .

And so, we turn to the local political game in order to check on the fight for slightly less meaningful power . . .

Councilman Scott Taylor

What we learned this week: The 6th District leader has the support of Democratic Party infrastructure more than any other contender and that might be his secret weapon to surpass other challengers in an exceptionally crowded Mayoral contest.

Activist Clay Chastain

This time, mostly thanks to our blog community, the light rail activist has earned a bit more attention than usual as he wages war against the newspaper rather than his competition on the ballot.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

Right now the "King Of Ketchup" is the so-called savior of Kansas City and could assume the throne of all time hometown king if he brings back a Super Bowl win. The amount of faith locals have put in this rookie QB is unprecedented as this cowtown seems desperate for shared glory.

As always . . .

This list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people, trends and our times.

  1. Taylor maybe makes the primary and that's better than Jolie. He'll lose to Quinton if it comes down to it. No reason for anybody out North to vote for him.

    1. how about a great big down vote to local weather people. I know some of them are trying to keep people safe and that's good but a lot of it is just fear mongering for ratings.

  5. The bullying intolerant left likes to think they hold the power. City hall is a prime example of their group think academy.

    1. Actually it's a perfect example of the BALANCE of power between the mostly conservative private sector and mostly liberal public.

Even as a diehard fiscal conservative, I would be very wary of free marketplace without representation of free societal choice.
