People are staying in warming shelters as power outages continue

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- The Red Cross has an overnight warming shelter at the Hillcrest Community Center but they're not that full. Back in the gym is a row of cots, with 22 people checked in for the night, down 9 from Sunday night, and just a small fraction of those without power.

4 hurt in house fire at Independence, Montgall in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- Two people were rescued overnight after a house fire. It happened just before 11 p.m. Monday at Independence and Montgall avenues. Four people were taken to the hospital, ut they're all expected to be OK. The cause of that fire is still under investigation.

Power restored to a duplex causes fire

RAYTOWN, MO (KCTV) - Kansas City, Missouri fire investigated a duplex that caught fire after the power was restored. Monday night shortly after 8:30, Kansas City, Missouri fire was dispatched to the 8500 block of Ditzler Avenue. Investigators say that the duplex had no power, but sometime after 7 p.m.

OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -- It's a beautiful view, unless you're the tree. "It's quite a view. It's very cool," said Bryan Hendrickson. "We definitely have a lot of trees down." Hendrickson is a foreman with KC Arborists. The thick heavy snow weighing down countless trees took them by surprise this weekend.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Last weekend's heavy snow - coupled with a forecast calling for more snow and colder temperatures - has cities across Kansas City setting up sites and plans for residents to drop off storm debris. Some cities say they will establish drop-off sites, but may not post hours until the next round of weather moves through.
