SHOCK!!! DOWNTOWN CRISIS: HOMELESS MAN CLAIMS KCFD DOUSED CAMPFIRE LEAVING HIM SOAKED AND COLD IN DANGER OF FREEZING TO DEATH!!!

The Downtown Kansas City homeless crisis continues into the New Year as divisions among class and social standing evoke high drama involving an often controversial group of 1st responders.

Here's both sides of the sitch:

A homeless man said he was hosed down by Kansas City firefighters during frigid New Year’s temperatures and left to freeze. The incident happened under a bridge near 20th and Oak on New Year’s Day around 2 a.m., when the temperature was around 21 degrees with a wind chill of 10.

From KCFD . . .

Kansas City Fire officials confirm they put out a campfire at that location Tuesday at 2 a.m., and that an investigation is ongoing to determine whether or not people were soaked. KCFD Deputy Chief James Walker told FOX4 that kind of behavior wouldn't be tolerate, but firefighters are required to put out small fires like the one Bucalo started.

"The homeless people of our community are as important as someone who lives in a $10 million home. Knowing the people who do our job, I have trouble believing that would happen," Deputy Chief Walker said.

To wit . . .

    1. Guy will most likely get an HUGE check from City Hall and won't have to worry about his living situation for at least a couple of years.

    2. Maybe they just didn't see him.

Thank you for linking both sides of the story, I think this is a serious charge and we should reserve judgement until the investigation is complete.

  2. ...assuming how much truth there is to this....

Haven't we learned, in this day and age, to always treat what we see in the news with a degree of skepticism?

  3. KCTV5 USES THE HOMELESS AS PROPS FOR THEIR STORY

Well, I see Brad Stephens paused long enough from his makeup and hairspray to pitch a contrived story of KCFD abusing the homeless. What a crock of B.S.

If KCFD shows up to an illegal fire, they're putting it out. You can argue over the niceties of their warnings to set aside.

What I love the most is how KCTV5 did ABSOLUTELY NO follow-up concerning:
Who are the homeless in KCMO?
Who was the man featured in their story, and why is he homeless? He sounded rather lucid and articulate for a homeless person.
Where can the homeless go to escape sub-freezing temperatures?
What resources are available to get the homeless integrated back into society?

    Thanks for nothing KCTV5.

  8. The KC Keyster1/2/19, 8:52 PM

Looks like one of those white ass angry Trump supporters.

I guess so much winning wasn't working out for him.

    Too bad.

Probably is a racist and crazy keyboard tough guy, has a lot in common with all of the racist people on this blog.

Many don't feel sorry for him but I hope he gets the help he needs. City now has to pay him at least $200,000.

  9. Not a good look for the fire department. Will they release the names of the suspected super soakers?

  10. ^^^ Agree.

But for once I agree with the Gopher. Needs to be more investigation of this. Don't know If I really believe free hot soup. They still have an ax to grind with city hall.

  17. Sorry but I have to side with the FD. There is a big possibility that they didn't see him and were putting out an unattended bonfire. THat means they were doing their job! I am sorry for this man's troubles but he was putting people in danger with that fire. I don't wish any ill will against him and I hope he gets the help he needs but we also need to keep the city safe from more fires.

  18. So Tony, are you going to let that homeless guy crash with you in your mom’s basement?

  19. Whether this story is true or not, the homeless plight is a shame. The national media should be as interested in the treatment of homeless citizens as they are with the treatment of detained illegals.

  20. Homeless plight is their own , plenty of help out there for those that want and need it.

  21. Just remember folks, they're all heroes all the time.

They rush into burning buildings to save family pets all day every day.

  22. Kind of a shitty way for a homeless veteran to be treated.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Damn, I need to go hang out under a bridge and start illegal fires to ensure a payday.

Apparently no one remembers the warehouse fire in Oakland two years ago that killed 36 people. This was basically a homeless refuge in an illegal place and a fire took out the whole thing. The "news" wants there to be illegal fires that can kill dozens of people. The star and these daily news shows can't go out of business fast enough

  24. Many of the homeless shelters are full and have been forced to turn people away.
