A talk with a Congresslady after skipping a payday . . . Here's the podcast conversation lovingly crafted by public radio with an obvious progressive spin. Checkit:

Congresswoman Davids Meets with Federal Workers Idled by Government Shutdown

Monday, January 14th, 2019, by Kansas News Service Most of the 800-thousand federal workers caught up in the partial government shutdown did not get paid last Friday. As Sam Zeff of the Kansas News Service reports, new Democratic Congresswoman Sharice Davids says she has been hearing from many of them.

  1. Just more empty worthless showboating.
Everyone already knows that the Dems are the part of government and very few of her 3rd District constituents are federal workers, so this is nothing more than a desperate attempt to get some media attention.
And the media demonstrates once again that it's not interested in accomplishment anywhere near as much as identity politics, in this case the breathless observation that Davids is a Native-American lesbian.
    A Democratic twofer!
    All hat and no cattle.

  2. I have heard multiple people from various segments of society say the shutdown hasn’t affected them at all. It seems this should prompt an audit to see just how many government positions could be cut or consolidated. Uncle Sam has far too many employees on the payroll.

I agree. I work for one and see the waste on a daily basis. Infuriates me. Worked the private sector for 35 years then federal work for the past 3. The tax dollars wasted is pitiful. the union is one of the biggest problems. I will never vote for another tax increase after seeing the waste here. There were times I would believe the politicians when they said they need more money. Never again always, when something is shut down the most needed services are trimmed. Big, government is a big waste!

  3. Oh good grief the audio talked about EPA workers not being able to monitor superfund sites during the shutdown. Yeah because a month of not monitoring it is going to change things. Oh no...nobody is going to run tests at the sunflower army ammunition plant for a while oh no!

I still think Sharice Davids and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez are goin to scissor. It’s just a matter of time.

  8. I'm going to guess that the biggest federal employer in Davids' district is the EPA office in Lenexa. Those workers are non-essential and are being furloughed. Since EPA is one of the best paying federal jobs around, I'm going to guess that this furlough is more free vacation time than anything.

Davids needs to focus on the humanitarian crisis going on at the southern border and propose answers. The answer is not "those Trump supporters are racists that want to keep out brown people". Propose more money for immigration courts, ICE, employer prosecutions, VISA programs, embassy programs, and physical barriers at the southern border. Start working on that and the EPA can get back to work...

  11. Sahrice Davids needs to tell Pelosi to stop acting like a spoiled brat because she didn't get her way! We are not getting paid because of Davids party! Davids also needs to know that we can fund other countries and give Clinton money for a boarder fence but can't give Trump money for a wall, that BTW does work!

Do something Davids you people have been fighting this but won't even come to the bargaining table!

    ReplyDelete
  12. ^^because Trump was proud to shut the government down. He told the democrats not to worry about it, and that he was proud to own it. Why in God's name would the Dems EVAR negotiate now? That's not smart business. You forget, Trump is a really stable genius and a terrific negotiator remember? Unfortunately for him, he has painted himself into a corner and must cave now to end the shut down. The Dems can afford to wait him out and should.

  13. 10:06: Pelosi is acting like a spoiled brat because she's not getting her way??? What planet are you living on?

    ReplyDelete
  14. 10:06, The GOP shut it down before Nancy took the gavel. They had complete control.

But that's besides the point. Federal workers aren't pawns in this debate and shouldn't be hostages to Trump's failed agenda. Davids and Dems won a landslide running against Trump's fake caravan crisis.

So it's back to the promise repeated hundreds of times and was supposed to be so easy for the only person that could do it.

Mexico. Pesos. Go collect from them.

  15. ^^^ If you're so mad, then quit taking the welfare and quit. You are obviously a huge part of the 'waste'.

Pig at the trough complaining about the other pigs. Quit or STFU.

  18. The thing that disgusts me most about Congress (both parties) is lack of term limits. Just like presidents, 8 years should be the max. And while I respect my elders, there needs to be an age limit too. People the age of Pelosi and McConnell need to be enjoying their comfortable retirement rather than haunting the capitol until they die. If working is that important to them, Walmart always needs greeters.

  19. We already have term limits- it's called an election. There aren't any term limits for unelected bureaucrats who burrow deep within these agencies so why limit the people's elected representatives. Agree politicians are flawed and some are dreadful but they are all we got. (this is toward 5:11pm)
    Thanks,
    Radish
