Kansas City Shut Down Nightmare Persists

2nd missing paycheck looms as workers are called back with no promise of compensation in the near future . . . Here's the best local article on the topic in the past few days . . .

IRS worker: 'It's a nightmare and it's getting worse'

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Soon the IRS building in Kansas City will have more workers in it, but they wont be getting paid. When we met Shannon Ellis last week, she was at home preparing for a rally. A week later, she is still at home.

Comments

  1. The IRS workers have been told that they will be paid for each and every day of the shut down. So why aren't they working? If the government was a private business there wouldn't be a shutdown if the company workers were not on strike. But if it were a private employer if they didn't show up for work they wouldn't get paid, and their insurance would not be in effect. If they want to get paid they should have to give up vacation or sick days like the millions of workers would have to in the private sector.

  2. No outrage was displayed by federal workers or the MSM during the shutdowns during the Obamma regime.

  3. ^^^ Mitch McConnell and his fellow members of the Republican crime organization were responsible for those. Pubs controlled everything except the presidency.

  4. I work for a company that can go out of business and I can lose my job. The gov't cannot go out of business.

Also, literally who gives a shit if the IRS is closed

  5. So did the rally make an impact? Was Clever there?

  6. @ 458, The Democrat crime organization is in control of this one and should own it. When the Republicans were the controlling party the shut downs didn't last near this long. The dems argue against 5 billion for a wall but give away trillions on medicare expansion, worthless hearings and obstructionism, not to mention how much they spent getting the women and LGBTs elected last fall and just how much do all of those rally's cost? What about the waste of giving Nancy a Boeing 757 because a gulf stream just wasn't good enough?

    1. Sorry no. Trump owns the shutdown. He was proud to do it remember? He said he would own it remember? He said he wouldn’t put it on the Dems remember? So there is no incentive for the Dems to negotiate. None whatsoever. Trumps complete humiliation and capitulation is the only thing to end it.

  7. Oh MY ITS A NIGHTMARE! Get over it, you should always have a safety cushion in your bank account or cookie jar. Always have about 6 months of the money needed to cover rent, utilities, food and other required expenses. That is not spending money until an emergency comes up. 4 weeks out of work should not be an emergency, especially for government workers since they have a ton of vacation and sick days to pull from.
Also as far as IRS workers are concerned taxpayers are not even supposed to file and pay their taxes from 2018 until January 28, 2019 according to the IRS web-site and that is not because of the shut down. So what is the big problem with these IRS workers? Poor planning?

No, they can file they won't be processed until then.

  9. 5:23 look out everybody, we have a brainwashed cult45 member amongst us. Do not bother responding to him, you might as well talk to a tree. This is someone for whom facts, science, and evidence means nothing. If he walked in on his blowup doll fucking somebody else it would convince him his eyes are deceiving him.

  10. UMMMMMM @ 5:41 You're dead wrong Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer own this shut down it's nothing more than vengeance against Trump for winning. The reason why Trump said he would own the shut down is because he was standing up for his principles and because he's a bigger man than any dirty democrat.

This shut down is the fault of Schumer and Pelosi!!!!! They won't even talk about the wall but yet they gave money to Bill Clinton to build the boarder fence. Until they talk and act like adults the Gov. stays closed, and I don't mind doing without my paycheck!!!!!

    1. Why should they talk? They don’t have to. Trump shut it down and owned it. Until he inevitably breaks, there is zero motivation to negotiate with him. Why should the Dems give one inch? That would just reward his infantile behavior. I thought Trump was a terrific negotiator? He has zero leverage. Begging the Dems to come to the table shows how weak he is! The Dems can afford to wait until he is humiliated. Such a smart businessman!

  11. Democrats need to do what is right for the country instead of worrying about trump 24-7.

  12. ^^ Good luck in getting them to do that.

  14. Pelosi and staff were planning a little "European Vacation" while workers go payless... until today

Trump abruptly yanks Pelosi's international trip after she pulled a power play by postponing his SOTU address.

"Due to the Shutdown, I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed," Trump wrote in his letter to Pelosi. "We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate."

    ReplyDelete
  15. ^^^ I didn't realize Afghanistan was in Europe.

A war zone is a vacation? If it was, Trump wouldn't be too scared to go.

The 3rd in line for the Presidency meeting with military intelligence in a war zone is responsible. Publicly exposing the trip was yet another leak that compromises national security and canceling it proves again Trump isn't fit to command the military.

This Russian backed man baby President makes us all less safe everyday.

  19. What tax refund? Why would anyone with a brain in his head give the government an interest free loan, only to get some of it back when they feel like giving it to you. Better to keep your own money until you feel like parting with some of it, like around April 15.

    ReplyDelete
  20. ^^^ You're right.

Trump screwed up the withholding schedules in his middle class tax increase scheme.

Most people that previously got a refund will find they don't this year. The IRS won't have many refunds to process.

    Trump fucked again.

  21. Trump will probably be impeached before this shut down ends.

I'd be willing to be bet that Pelosi and Schumer would agree to the $5 billion and then some if Trump came out with a detailed plan that states that it's for wall/fencing/whatever in strategic sections as outlined by CBP and technology and HR. But here's the rub...his base wants a wall on the whole damn border that isn't feasible and will never happen. If Trump were to say that the whole $5B isn't going towards a wall, Limbaugh and the rest of the right wing weirdos would freak out. It's unfortunate but Trump has painted himself into this corner, and frankly, fuck him. If he doesn't want to admit to his wall being unfeasible to appease his mentally retarded base, that's on him.

  22. @ 541 - You're the most ignorant poster on this site. Remember the OBUMMER promises "You can keep your doctor and your plan" Oh and the famous one "This plan will save every family $2500 a year".
You seem to forget, conveniently, that your GOD Obama lied as well. So did Bush, Clinton, Bush 41, Reagan, Carter....Washington. GET OVER IT!
The problem with you diaper wearers is that you want to embrace the liberal bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  23. ^^^ I kept my doctor and my plan. You could have too (if you had a decent plan).

Washington lied too? Ever hear about the cherry tree? You sound like a moron. Stop trying to deflect. The subject is shutdown.

Trump proudly shut it down. He bragged about it. It's on video.

After Nancy took the gavel, the House Dems passed GOP CRs to reopen the government. Mitch is now sitting on bills they passed just last month to keep Trump's shutdown going.

The shutdown is all on the Tangerine Idi Amin, who still doesn't know what he wants. The $5 billion he's asking for won't pay for a wall. The full price tag is over $65 billion. That's before imminent domain costs to take the private property needed. So even if he got his $5 billion today, there would be no wall. It would be wasted money for a delusion. The con man has fooled you again. You are the dumbest poster on this blog.
