KANSAS CITY NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS 2019: MAYOR SLY NEVER KEPT PROMISE TO LOOK FOR EARNINGS TAX ALTERNATIVES!!!

Just a bit of inspiration and a tidbit we want to share with local denizens right now . . .

Remember when Mayor Sly first came to power, he talked about finding alternatives for the controversial KCMO earnings tax but over time he CHANGED HIS TUNE and learned that simply pushing the pricey levy was an easier win.

Similarly . . .

SHARE YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS FOR 2019 AND DON'T FEEL BAD IF THEY DON'T WORK OUT!!!

Sadly, broken promises do have consequences.

Whilst Mayor Sly has been able has been to find forgiveness and tax support among local voters.

This year a Missouri lawmaker targets the E-Tax and the Jeff City GOP hegemony is far less enthusiastic about this tax whilst looking for a way to move against this urban core source of revenue with a statewide vote.

It's not a new tax, it's an old tax. A VERY OLD ONE.

  2. The earnings tax is the most regressive tax on the working poor. The regressive KC democrats start taxing the first dollar a minimum wage worker earns.

  3. Oh, Sly found an alternative -$800 Million in GO Bonds.
The problem is, there's not a damn penny of it left, and the City still has to function.

Good for Tony, linking to an article from KBIA, Mizzou's NPR Station.
More proof that the best and brightest, me included, come from Mizzou.

  11. Sorry, @3:33, but your degree was in "Underwater Breathing" because you failed "Canoeing" three semesters in a row.
But, they granted you a diploma anyway, partly out of pity and partly because they were tired of you hanging around the Campus after eight years.
