This evening the GOLD STANDARD of Kansas City metro conversation sparks healthy debate despite the frozen tundra on local streets.
Check the description of an essential conversation for voters who want to stay informed:
"Mike Shanin talks to Women's Foundation President and CEO Wendy Doyle about the foundation's mission and the Appointments Projects. Lisa Johnston, Gwen Grant, Steve Rose and Dave Trabert discuss Governor Kelly's proposed plans to amortize the state employee's retirement fund, expand Medicaid and adequately fund education, lingering KCI delays and nonpartisan elections in Johnson County."
Take a look:
You decide . . .
Pretty good skepticism about guv Kelly. She's one and done for a lot of reasons but mainly the criticisms raise in this show.
ReplyDelete^^^^ GET A GRIP. Governor Kelly has been in office for less than a month and already you're trying to stir up something. There are a lot of people who really like the work she's doing. She won by a big margin and is much more popular than the last governor by every account. So far she's off to a great start, you'd see that if you weren't so blinded by partisan politics.
DeleteI thought KCPT was just left of the red Star.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to that famous liberal bias fake news of public television?
Steve Rose stands up to Gwen. That's good stuff! Nice work man.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, the fake concern and outrage about spending from the GOP happens only AFTER they leave office.
ReplyDeleteThey ran the budget and fiances into the ground, and didn't care.
STFU.
^^^^ Not a fan of Kelly but have to agree. Brownback/Koch did more damage to Kansas than any Democrat could dream.
ReplyDeleteTHE FIRST THING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE IS TO TALK TO THE AIRLINES AND THE AVIATION COMMUNITY!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWE DO NOT NEED A NEW AIRPORT, WE NEED A BETTER AIRPORT, A FACILITY THAT FIRST MEETS THE NEEDS & SECURITY REQUIREMENTS OF THE AIRLINES, WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A 'NEW AIRPORT'.
USE CORRECT TERMINOLOGY AND STOP MISLEADING THE PUBLIC BY POOR DISCUSSIONS, SHALLOW SLOGANS.
THE EXISTING AIRPORT IS A BETTER FACILITY AND BETTER BUILDINGS PLANNED AND BUILT BY MORE COMPETENT PEOPLE THAN WHAT IS BEING PROPOSED.
The 'clandestine' nature from the start to the present of the whole project is not acceptable, all it does is hide incompetence.
^^^^ +1
ReplyDeleteThe airport section of the talk was good but I think they're holding back because they think this thing can be saved. It can't.
AECOM says they can build the airport cheaper, build what airport cheaper? That is the problem, the default acceptance of a 'smaller & nicer', 'single terminal airport' smooshed into the site of terminal A. TECHNICALLY IT ISn't even A SINGLE TERMINAL, it is a single security checkpoint with several awkward wings of gates. maneuvering around and docking a plane at the proposed gates even seems like a significant pain in the ass compared to the current facility. AECOM can take the liberty and propose a DIFFERENT SOLUTION that is also cheaper, but try communicating with the airlines and aviation community first, not the politicians.
ReplyDeleteLoading/unloading baggage even seems like a huge pain in the ass, not convenient and requires dodging planes.
ReplyDelete^^^^ anyone disagree with that? How convenient is it to unload baggage from a runway side wing of gates and get them to the roadway side where it is picked up by passengers?
ReplyDeleteAirport is screwed. THANKS SLY!
ReplyDeleteI am confident, that whoever reviewed the model SOM made, which i hope you did pay for, they asked all the wrong questions.
ReplyDeletethe pay 4 part is sarcasm
ReplyDeletejordan is what we like to call a 'hoover salesman'.
ReplyDeleterenderings show the baggage being delivered from the upper level and descending to the lower level. That's in the rendering with the black GI hugging his child by the carousel. I really do no think you should pay SOM any more money to try to prepare things they have not thought about.
ReplyDelete"GOLD STANDARD"
ReplyDeleteLOL I laugh every time I see this post. The whole suggestion borders on Onion material.
Looks like the show is kicking off 2019 with a continuance of peak dishonesty and self-deception.
ReplyDeleteWho is that old women in the leather jacket?
ReplyDelete@7:50 One of the privileged who doesn't pay taxes in KCMO. Must live in Johnson County.
ReplyDeleteDoyle lives in Mission Hills. Black leather jacket territory.
ReplyDeleteShanin is beginning to look like he's seen better days also.
ReplyDeleteWELCOME TO SOCIAL ACTIVUCKUS
ReplyDeleteAccording to Doyle, the Women's Foundation was founded 27 years ago after a research study revealed that only 4-percent of philanthropic giving in the metro went to women and children. Can you say FAULTY RESEARCH STUDY?
No doubt begun with initial good intentions, the Women's Foundation adheres to the "identity politics" model in which females are encouraged to view themselves as societal victims who deserve gender carve-outs in order to achieve "equity."
They've created their own little bureaucratic female fiefdom, loaded the board and advisory council with names like Nichols, Barnes, Cleaver, Copaken, Helzberg, Rose, Solberg, Stanton, and others.
Their groundbreaking research includes:
advocating for "gender diversity"
women get breast cancer
there exist barriers for female civic engagement
women entrepreneurs face restrictions and barriers
females should be more integrated into military Special Forces
Community activists, Social Justice Warriors, Lesbians, Identity Politics Practitioners, etc., REJOICE!
You guys actually watch ruckus? sad
ReplyDeleteThis is not a joke.
ReplyDeleteKudos to Gwen Grant for actually calling out the 3 mayoral candidates who were on the Airport Selection Committee: Justus, Reed, Lucas
All 3 should be eliminated from the race, as they've demonstrated major incompetence in a multi-billion dollar municipal project.
One of the rare times that I agree with Grant.
@10:45
ReplyDeleteNo I don't. We have to be reminded it still exists here.
