KANSAS CITY FEDERAL WORKER PROTEST TODAY: PUBLIC SERVANTS NOT PAWNS!!!

Today's protest turnout was bigger than some of our more skeptical readers anticipated.

To wit . . .

TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY RESISTANCE TO THE PREZ INCREASES AS THE SHUT DOWN CLAIMS PAYCHECKS!!!

Here's the aftermath:

KSHB: Federal worker: 'We are at home without pay, some are working without pay'

KMBC: Federal employees and supporters rally against government shutdown

FOX4: Local federal employees gather to call for partial government shutdown to end

KCUR: Federal Workers In Kansas City Are Fed Up After Three Weeks Without Pay

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. So what is the President's plan? Wait these people out?

I don't think a billionaire pressuring workers is very convincing. The wall is debatable and there is support for it but the shut down continuing is opposed by most. Even Republicans now.

  3. They’re exerting themselves way harder protesting than they ever do at “work.”

  4. lol no one cares about planned protests that don't even involve actual fed workers.

    Trump has already won

  5. Government work is the second welfare...has anyone other than the laid off staff really noticed? Seriously, the federal, state and local governments are all way too big.

  6. Trump loses this one. He is costing people job.s

    1. ^^^^ Wrong @7:02 - The democrats are responsible for this shut down. They are being obstructionist.

  7. Real KC Voter1/10/19, 7:01 PM

Do you really think that this shut down will end with Trump? He's not talking to anyone, he is not a good negotiator. He's a con man and he's sinking American families into debt. Shame on him and anybody who supports him.

  8. Can we just ask Putin for permission to continue work?

  9. It didn't look to me like anybody was starving. We need border security. If this is the only way to get it, then so be it.

  10. ^^^^^^^ Clueless Republican THUG.

You don't care about anyone else but your president. The joke is on you, he doesn't give a damn about Americans.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Here's what's troubling to me. You have people in KC actually talking horrible about government workers, saying that they don't do anything. Saying that they are a burden. Government workers help people every day and their jobs are essential. A lot of us are working without paychecks. I can't believe that the President has us at each other's throats like this, one group of Americans hating another. That is the real reason I can't support this shut down.

    1. The march was organized by government unions whose main purpose is to prevent non-performers and those guilty of misconduct from facing any consequences. Federal employees who have put away even a few months of expenses in a rainy day fund are enjoying the extra paid time off.

      Delete
    2. You didn’t know how many people despise all government workers.

      Delete
    3. The general perception is that government workers are slothful and incompetent. Because it’s true.

  12. Federal workers are not working "without" paychecks. Their paychecks will just be delayed. Apparently, many do not have a six month rainy day fund. Ask any entrepreneur what it's like to work and not get paid for several months--it's totally common practice.

The federal workers are not risk takers. they are a wellpaid welfare class. and yes, some do GREAT work.

Blame Nancy Pelosi, what a dull thinker. She is refusing to negotiate. Good thing she never served on a budget committee. Or had to live on a budget. Five billion dollars is peanuts. We waste that every day in federal government. Blowing shit up in the desert, for example.

She was FOR the wall before. But now claims it "discriminates" against where illegals try to enter the country. That's the most dumb blonde thing I've ever heard. It's quite clear, this is not about the barrier, it's about refusing to accept that Donald Trump ran a better campaign and beat Hillary Clinton.

So write Sharice, and call Pelosi. That's the bottleneck. They are out of their weight class when it comes to negotiating.

  13. 7:04 typical stupid dummocrat response, calling anybody who doesn’t agree with your dim witted beliefs a thug, the dummocraps are the clueless thugs here, they can end this but your worthless pelousy and shumerless only care about their image and no one else. Who’s leaving who with out a paycheck?

7:06 you haven’t missed a paycheck yet, not until the 15th, you have to do better than that around here, we aren’t you’re average cnn misinformed loser, we actually know the facts around here.

  14. Tracy nails it as usual! Nicely done.

  15. ^^^^ Unions are made up of people, workers.

If you don't know that, you probably havne't had a job in years. Government workers don't need bums telling them to reject their paycheck. Sorry Trumpkin, try again!

  16. The organized march comments are interesting! People have a right to organize but the public also has a right to know what's really going on. Really glad people are talking about the TRUTH!

  17. Go Trump Go!

    Back to Mar-a-Lago!

  18. Unions, including public employee unions, exist to help poor and marginal workers keep their jobs. Not surprisingly, it is the poor and marginal workers who are staunch union supporters. Union members who work hard and do good jobs do not need unions.

  19. And now "He" loses yet another tenuous grip on reality, claiming that he knows "the Wall" will work...
    ??? BECAUSE WHEELS WORK ???
??? AND HAVE SINCE "ANCIENT TIMES" ???

Yesterday it was because ??? "MEDIEVAL WORKS" ???

I'm now totally confused - are we supposed to get something with Crenellations and Machicolations (Maybe for Archers? No Moats?), or are we after a "BORDER WHEEL" and just thought he's been saying "wall"?

Those of you who have any glimmering of what this Guy is talking about please explain, thanks.

  20. Tracy,
Don't blame Nancy. I'll take it. Yes, I shut it down. I'm proud to shut down the government. I will take the mantle. I will not blame Chuck, Nancy or the Democrats. Nancy wasn't even Speaker or majority leader when I shut it down. Congress was under full GOP control.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Can't begin to tell you how many tears I have shed for these folks with good govt jobs (also called the trough) who have not saved enough to get them through even one missing paycheck. Breaking my heart.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nancy compromised and had the Democrats pass all the GOP Senate approved funding bills last week to reopen the government. Now McConnell won't let the Senate vote on their own bills they passed unanimously just 3 weeks ago. So they were for it before they were against it??? Nancy isn't the bottleneck. It's Mitch and ultimately Trump.

Republicans have no idea what they want or what they are doing. And they don't care who gets hurt in the meantime. Even worse, the TKC chuds think workers protecting the country deserve to be hurt.

  23. Gopher Casey1/10/19, 8:38 PM

7:59 That may be true in some professions but not all. Unions exist for a reason. For example, airline pilots are almost all unionized but I don't think anyone would consider what they do to be poor or marginal workers. Your argument is invalid- try again.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Why would Davids compromise with Trump???

Davids campaigned against the wall. Hell, everyone here screamed that Davids was so radical that she would eliminate ICE. Yoder campaigned on helping Trump fund the wall and talking about drugs and gangs from Mexico overrunning Overland Park. Davids won by 9 points. NINE!!!

Trump had 2 years to fund his wall. It's not the Democrats fault he couldn't get his own party to pay for it during the last 2 years. Now he'll be forced to collect pesos from Mexico to pay for a wall (like he promised in the first place and bragged it would be easy to do).

    ReplyDelete
  25. Tracy makes some good points. I have a years worth of savings for this shut down, others who don't need to live more within their means trouble is on the horizon.
Woody also makes some good points, a lot of the federal employees have a hard time doing any work. Those protesters today were union.

There are tons of quotes from the Obama administration and MSM saying there was a boarder crises, but now that Trump in in office and they are so insanely jealous of him they have now said it's manufactured. Today alone there was 130 people caught in one small area, some of them were from Pakistan! What's that tell you?

It's pretty scary how the far left radicals are out there and some have even been elected. Trump has been man enough to own this shut down but it's pelosi, Schumer and all of the democrats that are far left radicals. They and only they are responsible for this shut down. This country went to hell when Obama took office, he pushed his party to the extreme!

There is going to be some big news coming soon maybe tomorrow!!!!!!!

  26. There is no reason to punish workers for Trump's own failure to get Mexico or the GOP pay for his wall.

We should have a policy debate on comprehensive immigration reform and border security improvements. That can be negotiated. That's called governing.

There is no reason to use a shutdown and lockout in that process. There is no excuse to withhold workers' pay hostage. Needing to use threats about an extended closure proves how weak Trump's wall policy really is. But Trump doesn't know how to lead or govern. So we're left with an expensive, wasteful shutdown that is making our country less safe everyday.

  27. Didn’t Jim Acosta tell everybody that the wall is working down in Texas today! Man that was some funny shit right there!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Why aren’t the dummocraps working to get the government back open?

Typical of politicians to blame everybody else and not put in the hard work to get things done.

That is what all people should be protesting,

    ReplyDelete
  29. ^^^ The House Dems have passed the GOP Senate approved CRs. Several of them. They have been working to reopen the government.

McConnell is sitting on them now and Trump keeps walking out of meetings in a huff.

It's objectively easy to see who the adults are and who is throwing a tantrum. Try to keep up.

  30. How much wall would the currently requested $5.7 billion build? Not much.

Trump himself used to claim at rallies it would take $20 or $25 billion for a proper wall, even after figuring in his great deal-making negotiating for best price (and seizing private land through eminent domain).

But based on Trump’s 2017 budget request for $2.6 billion to plan, design and build 75 miles of wall, the estimated per-mile cost would be about $37 million, or nearly $67 billion for the entire 2,000-mile border.

    $67 BILLION!

    Trumped again.

He has no idea what he's asking for. Neither does his base. There will be no wall.

    ReplyDelete
  31. By all means, keep the government shutdown and withhold the wages of all ICE agents until they all quit. Border Patrol too.

Trump will accomplish what Davids could only dream of. The stable genius strikes again! Go Trump Go!

  32. ^^That's funny. So true. This dumb motherfucker just shut down the Border patrol and ICE!!!! God this ass-clown is such a joke! MAGA!

  34. Funny how for 2 years, the wall was "meh, we got other stuff to do", now it's a potential national emergency declaration. I'll be damned if this clown isn't fleecing all of us.
