Kansas City East Crossroads Biz Plan: Will Keystone Innovation District Work?!?!?

Here's a taxpayer backed scheme that has already earned $900K directly from taxpayers and will likely garner more City Hall funds based on sketches and good intentions . . .

Stolen from a lesser developer backed blog in order to make REAL NEWS out of hype:

"The Keystone Innovation District proposal took its first concrete step recently when backers signed a "pre-development" agreement for the planned site of the $90 million plus endeavor at 18th and Troost. A development entity established by J.E. Dunn Construction reached the agreement with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, which owns the block targeted for the proposed education, research and entrepreneurial center."

And so we ask . . .

IF THIS KANSAS CITY EAST CROSSROADS BIZ BRIDGE SUCH A GREAT IDEA, WHY CAN'T THEY FIND PRIVATE INVESTMENT?!?

You decide . . .

  6. 8:26: Thanks for your predictable response, Chris. It's always a treat to read your cogent, well-presented cases for taxpayer subsidized everything except infrastructure maintenance.

  9. I wish the KCATA would focus on bus transit and not divert money and energy into eco devo projects like this one or the one proposed for 3rd & grand. Bus transit is important enough to command the board and leadership’s full attention. This leads to too much rent-seeking behavior and money diverted from buses. We see them e.g. giving a million dollars for toy train extension which could buy a bus and pay gas maintenance and labor for a whole new route or adding to frequency of an existing route.

    Thanks,
    Radish
