KANSAS CITY CHIEFS PLAYOFF FAIL 2019 AFTERMATH: WHAT DID WE LEARN?!?!

Once again Kansas City confronts inevitable disappointment despite the media fueled hysteria leading up to an inevitable let down.

To wit . . .

SHAME ON KANSAS CITY MSM AND INFLUENCER MARKETING GURUS FOR FUELING FANBOYS FALSE CONFIDENCE!!!

More to the point, the defeat was really yet another sign that, for all of his many faults, Prez Trump is on to something with his "fake news" slur.

And so, here's the essential round-up of teachable moments in the aftermath of ritual end of season defeat:

The Impact Of QB Patrick Mahomes Was Overrated And He's Probably Not Going To Stay In Kansas City For Long

A great fashion note from the comments on the Patrick Mahomes post-game.

Hint: "Patrick Mahomes wore his black & white jacket on for post game Q&A. No Chiefs branding or colors, just a white Adidas logo on a black warm-up style jacket. Hmmmmmm..."

More to the point, the Patrick Mahomes team knows that a career in Kansas City could be wasted whist waiting for the front office to spend real money on a total team with a defense, offense and roster of marquee players.

Meanwhile, local love is nice and sells a lot of counterfeit t-shirts but ultimately the guy's immense talent deserves more than a ketchup contract. In Kansas City he can dominate regular season play but seemed inconsistent and ineffective during crunch time when the team's overall weakness kept him off the field.

Civic Booster Tie-In To Chiefs Hype Undermines Kansas City Democracy

Politicos running for higher office and so many local money losing efforts garnered free publicity by way of their mindless Chiefs boosterism. What we learned from this is that support for Kansas City political ploys is about marketing and not direct democracy. Time and time again local voters have demanded city-wide votes to stop development schemes and check rampant spending for sketchy tourism ploys. Sadly, for local media it's easier to offer coverage of cheerleaders rather than news of voter engagement and opposition that offers a far more critical contest than weekend games.

Clark Hunt Has Billions, Don't Ask Fanboys To Cheer For An American Oligarch

The news narrative for Sunday night focused on family glory for a billionaire and that was mostly a slap in the face to a city confronting a government shut down, increasing economic disparity and a fight over affordable housing.

TKC SPORTS NEWS SMACKDOWN: FOOTBALL FANS SHOUDLN'T BE FORCED TO CHEER FOR BILLIONAIRE GLORY!!!

Fact is, the Hunt family donates a lot of cash to local good causes and we would be more than happy to cheer for his community building efforts, creating jobs and supporting a more vibrant local economy . . . But billionaire trophy glory is a bridge too far to sell to the broke-ass public.

And so . . .

Tragically, Kansas City Chiefs fanboys won't take any of these life lessons to heart.

Life lesson: Even amid the border wall debate that has created a historic national impasse the Chiefs are playing in Mexico next season . . . This is one of many fun facts to consider as Kansas City simply doesn't want to realize the game is about marketing and money NOT sportsmanship and civic pride.

Nevertheless, the narrative today focuses on hope for the future as seemingly Orwellian local talkers attempt to convince Kansas City that losing is winning in their constant and ritual playoff defeat "we'll get'em next season" sales pitch to the fading American middle-class.

You decide . . .

  1. A few good points. I wonder if KC will be mad at Mahomes when he leaves town. I wouldn't blame him if he took 200million to play in a warmer climate.

    2. Don't just blame the local talkers. So many national sports show hosts were talking up Kansas City as well. They also look stupid today. It was a disappointment all around and only a few people on this blog called it.

  4. It's sports. You win, you lose.

It's not a teachable moment as deep as you think it is and it has nothing to do with your obsession with the downtrodden (lazy).

    Your little lessons are boring.

  8. Another thing we learned (as if we did not already know it) is to never trust anything that Angela K says. The Chiefs lost, in excruciatig fashion, so according to her there should be a line of ambulances and private vehicles, each bearing one or more domestic violence victims, at every emergency room in the city and suburbs. But, nope. Turns out it was just another leftist myth. Not that she won't predict it again next time.

  9. To my excitable and disappointed fellow fans:

A heartbreaking loss for sure but all this weird negativity... a great season but we lost to probably the greatest quarterback ever who has tons of playoff experience. No shame in that.

That offsides penalty negating the game-clinching interception - that was a roundhouse to the nuts! Still stings the next day. Ouch.

Chiefs will be back strong next season. Who to root for in this super bowl?? I find myself kind of hating both teams....

    Thanks,
    Radishes

  11. We learned our defense sucks really bad and we need a good defensive coordinator.

We learned that Dee Ford is too stupid to know where to line up.

We learned Kelce is still the fake Gronk.

  12. What did we learn?

Well, for one thing, on rare occasions, the Chiefs have a great year and are almost good enough!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Dudes act like the Chiefs were playing some second rate college team and choked. It was the fucking Patriots man. They've been there done that for the last 15 years or something. Chiefs got a franchise QB and some solid offensive talent. Next step is to get a little more consistent on D.

  14. Fake gronk & @11:33 nailed it.

  15. It came down to the overtime coin toss. Chiefs win the toss they are in the Super Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Patriots will be history soon enough. They almost were last night. Get some perspective.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Mahomes will be here until his contract ends. The Chiefs will never pay what his agents are going to demand, and that will be it.

I could see them having a pretty good team next year, for Hunt may pony up enough cash to get a couple of decent defensive guys and a better offensive line. Those guys are relatively cheap. If he does that, they might have a shot at their one Superbowl every half a century. (and really, while Eric Berry seems like a good guy and has a good story, he's nowhere near pro quality any more).

But, it will be like the Royals. Even if the Chiefs manage to do well next year, by 2020 all their good players will be off to better paying teams in higher-status cities.

What, you think Mahomes wants to stay in Cowtown due to civic pride? Get real.

  18. Learned it will be another 20 years before the Chiefs win a division title. They must take 1 step at a time.

  19. The Chiefs put on a spectacular show this season. You can’t deny that. Week after week of big plays. It’s a team unlike any other chiefs team I’ve seen. They were robbed in overtime of a chance to prove themselves and that’s part of stupid NFL rules.

Did you guys watch the Saints game and the pass interference call that was awkwardly avoided? That’s a big story right now and has raised a lot of suspicions. As for myself I’ve pretty much had enough NFL. From the recent SJW issues, shitty pop culture halftime shows (Katy perry, Madonna, BeyoncĂ©) to the scandals and bad reffing. $60 to park....just to park your car for a few hours at arrowhead. It’s just not worth it.

OH....one more thing. Did any of you see the local news yesterday going to tattoo shops? People getting chiefs tattoos? You thought jersey wearing was pathetic...some guy got a tattoo that said “champ stamp” on it. Seriously. People were also getting Mahomes face as a haircut on their heads. I would not be surprised at all if a few “males” out there got chiefs Super Bowl tattoos as well.

  21. How has no one in the comment section remarked about the shot of Goodell's cell phone? The live shot over his shoulder looking down on the field. His text messages said clear as day "make this happen" immediately before the blatant false roughing the passer call. Oddly enough, that footage has been scrubbed from the online video. Clear case of explaining how the refs threw so many blatant bad calls; Goodell told them to.

  24. What did we learn?
We learned that a much insulted football coach from philly can take a team with a 2 and 14 record and a murder suicide on the team, to the AFC championship game
Its sports thats all it is
Thanks for a great season, chiefs. It was fun this year

  25. Mahomes threw the game.
If Brady can deflate footballs and get away with it, Mahomes can take a dive.

  26. We learned that Chiefs fans are pussies.

  27. Not many people on this blog understand how NFL contracts work. Mahomes is under a 4 yr. rookie contract with a team option for one additional (5th) year. That 4th year is probably when the renegotiate and give him the monster contract as we have 2 more seasons with him not eating a huge chunk of the salary cap.

  31. Bottom line is the players make millions and as long as the Chiefs front office can keep you suckers paying the big money to keep the stadium full they have no worries. They do not give a damn if they make it to the playoffs and as long as the powers to be keep saying the things people want to hear life is good for them. Sorry suckers.
