Kansas City Chiefs: Deadbeat Losers?!?!

Tax transcription journalism today revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs aren't paying their fair share despite overwhelming KCMO taxpayer subsidy . . .

THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS OWE MORE THAN ONE MILLION BUCKS ON ARROWHEAD!!!

A link tease from the biz journal summed it up more effectively than anywhere else . . .

The Kansas City Chiefs are about to embark on $11.5 million in upgrades to Arrowhead Stadium, but a state decision revealed that the team still owes nearly $1 million in back taxes on its previous renovation that wrapped up in 2010. The issue dates back to a 2014 state audit that questioned a number of sales tax-exempt purchases, such as a bronze statue of Lamar Hunt Sr., leotards for Chiefs cheerleaders, autographed footballs, televisions and weightlifting equipment . . .

And so . . .

The team lost most of their clutch games this year and basically moved forward because football is more like b-ball nowadays . . . It's important to realize the real cost this team enforces on locals whilst offering nothing but sponsored content hype in return.

You decide . . .

  1. Hey, it's actually a good thing the Chiefs are buying their cheerleaders something warm to wear. The pay they offer those women is ridiculous and very few of them get famous for that job. It's really a ripoff. KC fans should ask for their cheerleaders to be compensated fairly or maybe just do away with the dumb tradition altogether.

    2. Yeah, the Chiefs are a ripoff. Always thought this was the worst part of the deal:

The Kansas City Chiefs owner's suite is basically a mansion

Why should Jackson County taxes build a mansion for the Clark Hunt. Stupid.

  2. Quiet down now complainers. The kicker could basically buy your life 3 times over. Your complaints aren't as important as marketing tie ins for grocery stores, beer and hamburgers.

  3. It's impossible to discern from the articles about this what the Chiefs' arguments are. They are represented by a silk stocking law firm, so they undoubtedly have their own story to tell. It would be easy enough to get the court papers and report the full story, but don't expect the biased and lazy journalists to take that extra step.

    1. Why name-call the reporters? "Biased and lazy". Hendricks did a good job on this complicated and obscure story. At 7:50pm. It's easy to type some meaningless words in an internet comment isn't it? -Radish

  4. The chiefs also create a lot of jobs in Kansas City. The impact of that shouldn't be overlooked.

  6. What’s a million among friends!

Seriously people, they did put 75 million of their own money into renovations of arrowhead and I’m sure this will be dealt with, cue sLIE!

  7. 8:00 thats bullshit and you know it. What ones they do huge percent of them are low ass paying jobs.

  8. ^^^^ Truth @8:24. The jobs directly related to the Chiefs are mostly in concessions. But like all NFL teams, they use Hollywood accounting and claim they are making millionaires every year.

  9. The city should sell the stadium to the business that uses it. Use that money to build a new jail and the new stadium owners property tax to support the jail. Call it thugs helping thugs.

  10. ^^^^ +100

FINALLY. A good idea on this blog.

  11. Professional sports teams have always been a drain on cities. But their marketing is so good that few people question the expense. Blame it on the education system letting us all down.

  12. NFL teams dont need millions and millions in tax breaks.

  13. Quite simply the Chiefs organization Rob the taxpayers of Jacked County Missouri. In ways outlined in this article plus each home game who pays all the cops to stand In and around arrowhead? It sure isn't the Hunt family. Nor the Chiefs organization. That's pathetic in a city whose crime problem exists like in KC. maybe Claire can come out of retirement and straighten Jackson county out. Hardly. She will surface soon because she want the money back Reliant Care paid the DoJ for Medicaid fraud in Missouri. Millions! Fuck the chiefs

  14. Move them to Johnson County Kansas. That's mostly who trashes the neighborhood surrounding the stadium on Sundays anyway

  15. ^^^^^^^^^ TRUTH!

  16. The Chiefs only use Arrowhead Stadium 8 or 9 days a year. If they need money to pay taxes they can figure out some other way to use the space on Chiefs' off days. I suggest gladiatorial combats. That would also help take care of the jail overcrowding problem.

  17. So Tony, how much do you owe your mom to live in her basement?

  18. THE FUCKING CHIEFS CHARGE $80 PER CAR TO PARK. THEY NEED AN IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATION LOOKING INTO PARKING TICKET TAKERS THE CREW THAT CLEANS UP THESE ILLEGAL ALIENS TO REMOVE SNOW AND WIPE OUT THE TOILET BOWLS AND PUT THE BLUE MINTS IN THE URINAL
