KANSAS CITY 2019 PREDICTIONS?!?

Now that KCMO celebratory gunfire has subsided and we get back to the regular old menacing bullets flying around town, we ask the AWESOME TKC BLOG COMMUNITY for a peek at the year ahead . . .

To wit . . .

HELP US MAKE PREDICTIONS FOR KANSAS CITY 2019 AND THE FATE OF THIS COWTOWN AMID TURBULENT TIMES!!!

Here's what we know for sure and/or what we're sharing as a starting point for further discussion . . .

Stalled New KCI Worsens

Locals can't agree with developers, there's no dirt turning and it's getting more obvious that out of control costs are making the deal more complicated. Even worse, taxpayers are picking up the tab despite promises. Ironically, images of long lines inspired voters and now we're force to patiently bide our time for some resolution of this big money struggle.

More Kansas City Murder

There's no new plan and the uptick in deadly violence is mostly unchecked. Even worse, candidates for Mayor & City Council don't want to talk about this issue in any great detail. And so the killing continues as innocent are endangered along with everybody else amid the continued carnage.

Downtown Real Estate Bubble In Peril

Prices are already falling and developer foreign money laundering schemes have become less viable even with KCMO taxpayer subsidy. There are now too many hotels, condos and pricey living spaces that locals can't afford as the law of supply & demand is on the cusp of getting very cruel in and around the loop.

Money Gets More Expensive

The fate of the global economy hinges on the Fed Interest Rate outlook and so we won't pretend to make a call other than reminding locals that they have said they're leaning toward at least two increases. And so the money supply gets even more scarce whilst (most) Americans living on debt have reason to be just a little less confident.

But most of all . . .

Kansas City Still Fights Over Prez Trump

The protests, rhetoric and culture war confrontations have only just begun as we look forward to the Mueller Report and so many talking points handed town from partisan hacks and then reheated in order to alienate coworkers, frenemies and extended family.

And now . . .

TELL US WHAT TKC READERS EXPECT OF KANSAS CITY IN 2019!!!

  1. Going to be a wild ride but the safe money is on President Trump to not just survive but thrive in the new year.

  2. Going to be a very fascinating year once again. Interesting times to be sure and what we've learned so far is that every time we hear about Trump being down and out, he comes back again even stronger. I know what you're gonna say, just like herpes. The joke is old but the concept of Trump winning despite adversity and against the odds has been proven over and over again.

    1. 3rd term for Sly James. Sorry.

  3. Don't really care about the politics of it all but I think this entire city would be very happy if Patrick Mahomes brings us a Super Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I predict we'll have a drink.

    ReplyDelete
  5. KCMO will be #4 on the most deadly city list.

    ReplyDelete
  6. KCMO will reach Detroit status in 2019. Bankrupt.

  7. Indeed (count how many times the KC Star uses this useless word) - the top feel good story of 2019 is Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Everyone is talking about him and the stories on the internet haven’t missed and show exactly how good reporting should be done.
While the Star seemed to get bogged down on the Kareem Hunt story (the Chiefs fires him immediately- something that had NEVER been done before as swiftly) by wanting the owner to say or do God knows what - everyone else moved on.
It proved the point: Let those in glass houses throw the first stone... and the Star did just that!
We bare witness to the amazing Mahomes. I’ve talked with businesses across the city who will shut down and pay homage to the men in red when they bring the Lombardi Troohy home and present it to the City-Wide parade.
Andy Reid was brought to this city as humble as a coach can be and instilled humility into Mahomes that will bare fruit into NFL supremacy for this year and beyond.
2019 is the start of a powerful franchise- a team whose leaders defies superlatives- and an amazing amount of hope and will for the city of Kansas like no other - now or before. This is sustainable and while most think of this world as having only 7 wonders... KC knows what the 8th Wonder of the world is.

  8. 6:36 is right:
2019 is The year of Mahomes... con’t.
    He makes everyone better.
And so true- Check out The Bleacher Report or Yahoo or the Sporting News on great Chiefs’ stories and amazing photos.
Maybe when the folks go all digital at The Star their reporting will improve and they can compete.
Prediction: One year closer to All-Digital for the local paper.

  9. One and done.

    ReplyDelete
  10. In 2019 KCMO will have more failing infrastructure, more failing feel good organizations, more money handed to developers, and basically more of the same old crap but in a new year.

Good infrastructure, streets, sidewalks, storm/waste sewers, water lines, working fire hydrants, and the list goes on, is the fabric that holds a community together. KCMO's fabric is shredded.

    ReplyDelete
  11. On a more important subject, expect to see more Geezer Hater and fewer GO4KC posts on TKC.

    ReplyDelete
  12. In KCMO last year's fads will fall apart due to typical lack of maintenance.
Empty dreams based on thin air like Mike's new hotel will incur cost overruns that the taxpayers will have to pick up.
The airport fiasco continues to head toward $4 billion.
Streets, sidewalks, bridges, and pretty much everything else will continue to deteriorate as the GO bond money continues to be siphoned off for the latest BIG BIG thing.
Homicides will continue to hover around 150 for the year with millions spent annually on empty programs like NoVa and the parade of fake nonprofits.
City debt will continue to increase with interest rates rising.
The faces at city hall will hardly change given the lineup of mayoral candidates.
    It never changes.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Pipe dream on the $4 Billion cost for the airport.
    Closer to $10 Billion.
Look for interest and movement to relocate the airport to Johnson County or somewhere close to that.
    Here is why:
    1. Leadership. There is none now. Who would it be?
    2. Infrastructure.
    3. Transportation. All these years and no public transit to the airport. No other major city lacks this on this scale. Johnson County will have this done (go back to #1 for the “why”) Scooters don’t count... City is clueless on even scooters.
    4. Costs. KC can’t do anything on budget with this. Time to change to give others a chance.
    5. Crime. KC boasts the 5th most dangerous city in the United States.
    6. Airlines prefer the topography of Johnson County. Google it.
7 Business. Huge hotels nearby and more can be built. How many 4–Stars near KCI? Too far away?
    8. Wages. Employees won’t be robbed of 1% Earnings tax...pilots are pissed already- refuse routes.
    9. Goal Posts keep changing. The design evolves too often. Makes the Tranfirmers look slow.
    10. Leadership. Again. Kansas knows something about this.
    11. Lets name the Kansas airport “Mahomes Airport”. Everyone will know where it’s at. No reason to put a shitty city name on it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Fight the future? Like the fake ass “tax fighters” who couldn’t stop the downtown convention hotel, the KCI single terminal airport, and the streetcar expansion???

    ReplyDelete
  15. KCMO's future is about as warm and bright as this mornings weather.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I predict TKC will be the site people go to for news as the Star sinks slowly into oblivion. I also predict this will keep Gopher constantly pissed.

  18. The blacks will murder more white people this year, and petersucker will continue to refuse to call them hate crimes. This is more of a gut feeling but there is a potential for even more black mass murderers this year, why stop at one or two when you can shoot five or six people and still get off with a light sentence or probation.

    ReplyDelete
  19. We just moved few "points" ahead of London England for murders-killings so KCMO is truly world class now.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Will media make it to work today to update the death and injury toll from last night?

    ReplyDelete

  23. Anti-corruption? How do you expect our mayoral candidates to live without graft to supplement their incomes?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wow....allegedly realtors Ronda and William white aka bill white alleged participation in bank mortgage loan scams from realestate contracts used to set up scam mortgage loans.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I predict Quinton Lucas will continue trying to weasel out of his DUI charge instead of owning it. He will remain in the closet as well.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Geezer Hater will be forced to get a job and it will be as a nurse’s aide in an old folks home. He will spend 40 hours a week giving sponge baths, emptying bedpans and changing Depends. During his breaks, he will eat leftover tapioca while watching Matlock in the break room.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 10:16 That’s his real job now, this is why he hates old people. The sad thing is this is the only job he can get, angry gay black man with a sorry ass attitude and a chip, a big chip on his shoulder, remember geezer hater, you made your own decisions that put you where you are today. Nobody’s fault but your own. Sad.

KCPD responds to several calls of gunshots on New Year's Eve, says none were fatal

At midnight, the Twitter account said officers put on ballistic helmets to protect them from falling bullets because of celebratory gunfire. Some officers went into parking garages to better protect themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  33. ^^^ Wow thats promising

    ReplyDelete
  34. Police worked through the large number of shots fired calls and determined three were not celebratory, but involved a shooter aiming at another person.

    Woo big sigh of relief.

  35. 2019 = murders and more murders. Democrats getting dumber, and Tony getting more posters than ever before. Oh and geezer hater gets another year older, and depends gets closer to another customer.

  44. I want to see more comments from the likes of Super Dave, Tracy and chuck. Super Dave has a real knack for getting under Go4KC's skin when he hits him with the truth backed by facts. No solutions ya say 12:20? I see lots of solutions every day in here if you bother to read what is being said and don't make asshole comments like you do. They say you have to take the good with the bad and well you see the bad a lot in here. Just too bad the good is the smallest part of what we see being said. I want to send a message out to chuck and Super Dave. Come on guys you use to do some really great stories in here and I for one would like to see them starting up again. Tracy, I don't always agree with you but do enjoy seeing the whacked out suburbia housewife views you at times present.
