Will Sheriff Forté Fix Jackson County Jail?!?!

This article looks at the bright side of a longstanding local human rights crisis but the reality is that the Courthouse has had YEARS to confront this problem and so far any proposed "solutions" are few and far between. HOWEVER, charter changes and more help from the Exec's office might turn the tide and provide an opportunity for a lasting fix. Take a look:

Sheriff Forte preps to take over county jail

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Recently elected Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forte is ready for change, especially at the county jail he'll soon oversee. Forte - the former Kansas City, Missouri, police chief, who was appointed sheriff on an interim basis in May and was elected to a full term in November - made that clear Friday in a letter sent to employees.

Oh jeezuz just when you thought things couldn't get any worse.

Yeah, I wasn't all that impressed with Forte as police chief...I doubt he will do any better as sheriff. Nevertheless, it would be nice if the jail could improve conditions so there were not as many problems.

This change was made so Slie could team with Forte and get the jail moved from downtown which is one of Slie's main wishes.

Let’s see its time to build a state of the art jail.

Forte is the classic entitled diversity hire. He knows he hasn't gotten the job through merit, so he behaves like a crybaby when legitimate questions arise about his competence, time management, and leadership style. He's a disaster.

Bet Forte is looking forward to raking in more millions in overtime.

Mar 23, 2017 - Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forté will be owed more than $499,117 for accrued vacation, sick and comp time when he formally retires

Sheriff Forte will oversee the final straw that will finally close that jail! It has to go meaning the jail, the land it sits on is too valuable for it to be a jail. Just like the airport The Buck O'Neil Bridge and now the jail it seems to me, the plan is to let it decay to the point it has to be replaced. Can you imagine the income brought in on the 3 Light Tower if it was sitting in the jail location?

Forte only fucks things up because he is stupid and incompetent. He never makes anything better.

Forte needs to hire former ex Royal Frank White and put him in charge of Jail Finance.
White knows a lot about housing finance and paying bills on time and not spending and bill priorities.
If White needs any help he can holler on over to “Carwash Cleaver” for advice- doubt ol’ Carwash is busy as the gov’t is shut down do to no financing of the border patrol.
If White or Carwash get caught with their fingers in the cookie jar- I am sure Forte (great oxymoron) would take a card out of his Monopoly game and a simple Xerox will get them 2 Get out of Jail free cards.

The jail and courthouse shouldn't be downtown. Close Independence and Downtown and put the courthouse and jail near Raytown. Right in the middle.

Look at the picture he took at the swearing in ceremony with an all white male command staff. Hell NO he is not going to fix anything.

good comments here. Forte isn't providing much hope, just a lot of hype.

18+ sided building, bad feng shui

Planned obsolescence of the jail due to lack of maintenance. The same as the airport, former Kemper arena, the old Paseo bridge and a host of other items that require regular maintenance to keep them functioning.
