TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! NEW KCI AIRPORT STALLED AS COSTS SKYROCKET AND EMPTY PROMISES & HYPE ABOUND!!!

And so on this December Sunday in 2018 the year of our Lord . . . Some prophesy from the comments and our journalism good times have come to pass.

To wit . . .

THE MOST KICK-ASS DENIZENS OF OUR BLOG COMMUNITY PREDICTED THE NEW KCI SINGLE-TERMINAL WOULD STALL AND COST WAY MORE CASH THAN ANYBODY PREDICTED AND NOW THAT TESTIMONY IS NEWS FACT!!!

Double confirmation . . .

The newspaper is just touting a cool graphic and old news in their Sunday edition that costs nearly 4 bucks and has less coupons than ever before . . .

KC Star: As costs rise, is KCI terminal project in trouble? Or moving right along?

We already covered the answer and it's equally sad that the only person left with any enthusiasm about the project is Mayor Sly on his way out of the door.

Meanwhile, old school progressive radio is touting the carrot & stick in South KC . . .

KCUR: South Kansas City Businesses Find Out How They Can Be Part Of Airport Construction

The answer for these pipe dreams . . .

Only lawyers and fly-by-night construction front companies really profit from KCMO projects.

Reality . . .

Already the new airport has turned into one of the most corrupt schemes in Kansas City history that threatens to ruin one of this town's most important resources.

What we know for sure . . .

- The airport environmental assessment is incomplete and DEFINITELY pushes the project back.

- The use and lease agreement has been rejected and the terms & negotiations are tougher than Mayor Sly will admit.

- The cost is getting out of control and threatens to price out smaller airlines who are fighting for survival. Meanwhile, stifling small airlines is pretty much the point for Southwest - The architect of this FAILED deal.

The only thing that'll help solve this problem is the next election if only because bigger biz will soon have a better idea of who they need to "influence" in the future.

Worst of all . . . Local media are still pretending that voters have anything to do with this process now that it's mostly a backdoor affair. Ew.

Developing . . .

  1. But what about Democracy?

    It's what the voters wanted?

    Right?

It's the voters that really count!

Please tell me we can still believe that one. It's a classic.

  3. Just use the QUT Super Block business model on Westport Rd.

Bulldoze the scam right over the public and slap the piece of shit together as fast as possible even if the weather is outside of the best practices rules for construction practices.

  4. ^^^ You meant QuikTrip? Noticed the craftsmanship isn't exactly state of the art.

  5. Agreed. Slap the fucking airport up so people stop whining, and if it falls over in ten years tear it down and build another. Nothing is permanent in this new normal anyway.

  6. I would love to know how much money has been spent on this architectural vapor so far..I can only imagine that it's million plus..

  7. Oh, hell, Hyperblogal, where've you been?
The City has already paid out over $40 million from the General Revenues to remorse various entities for "expenses"!

  8. I just hope we don't lose our momentum.

  9. ^^ sorry, typo "to reimburse various entities".

"Remorse" is what the 33.5% "Yes Voters" (no Sly, not 70% - you didn't really think you could keep it under wraps, did you?) are feeling now.

  10. Kudos to Steve Vockrodt for the story.

He's one of the few investigative reporters who hasn't rolled over to play dead.

  11. A fifth dimensional circle jerk created by low IQ Democrats. They screw up every city they are in charge of with their wanton thievery.

  13. The red star wanted the new airport because sLIE told them so, and now that they’re days away from failing they’re gonna speak up about how bad a deal it is for the little guy? It’s bad for all the citizens not just small business, how stupid are these clowns?

You know we need to figure out a way to ram this thing over the stupid ass public. Some kind of fear based pr campaign. Chiefs, donuts, beer and barbecue supplies in the city may suffer if not collapse entirely, leaving everyone hungry and resulting in total anarchy. Or we'll be left behind peer city's never to recover and the tourists will find somewhere else to visit, the extension will never be built, and the developers will abandon the city.

  17. Why do you really think this City Council wants a new airport? Is it really possible that these City Council members fly in and out of KCI and think about the fact that KCI is old and outdated and that the City would economically benefit by replacing KCI?
No. This Airport deal is all about $ 1 billion in contract awards to the special interest groups, the unions, the minority groups who will be the central part of this build out. This is all about Pigs coming to the troff. The massive bureaucracy which will be built for transportation, training, day care of the work force which will be used to build out this project.
The City Council is not by any means a representative body of all parts of Kansas City.

  18. City Council:
    1. Build a Grocery Store, do not tell the public that there is another grocery store which receives City tax benefits very close by.
    2. Build out the Street Car, go directly against the Public City vote which opposed the street car.
    3. Bring in Scooters without any study about the safety of the scooters.
    4. Create a Board of directors who will oversee the Jazz Museum and it's failures. What does this cost???
    5. 18th and Vine...
    6. MLK renaming of the Paseo. How much will this really cost the KCMO tax payer???
    7. Road maintenance and street clearing of snow...
Do you really trust this City Council with the Airport? What is the real reason the Council is getting involved with the airport???
Is it possible that the new KCI will lose smaller airlines due to a huge cost increase for flying in and out of the new airport???
