TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! NEW KANSAS CITY AIRPORT STILL DESPERATELY SEEKING $48-MILLION BUCKS IN 2019!!!

Credit to our blog community for keeping a watchful eye on a topic that MSM newsies either don't understand or willfully ignore.

Here's the word from an insider and City Hall dox . . .

If you look at pending ordnance 180862 at City Hall, it appears the ordnance's sponsors (Justus, Reed, Fowler, James) are still calling for transfer of $48 million to the airport bond fund from general city funds. It's scheduled to be considered again next month by the Aviation Committee. A promise was made not to use city funds to bail out the airport. Yet, there's this obvious push to use taxpayer money to keep the new airport project moving . . .

What, exactly, is the 48 mil for for? The city seems to be saying it's a temporary cash flow problem. The idea is to continue planning and design of the new airport, until bond money comes through. Then the airport will reimburse the city general fund from its big wad of borrowed bond money. What does this really mean?

TKC can help with that last question . . .

$48-MILLION BUCKS FINANCED BY CITY HALL MEANS THAT AIRPORT SUPPORTERS HAVE BROKEN THEIR PROMISE THAT TAXPAYER FUNDS WOULD'T BE USED TO PAY THE NEW AIRPORT!!!

This is the point where a local politico or Chamber geek attempts to misdirect the public with Hollywood accounting jargon.

Reality:

- Aviation doesn't have the cash to cover the $48-million.

- The debate among the airlines is worse than what is being reported.

- This is only one way that KC remains on the hook for this bad idea.

Developing . . .

  1. It's all just a gigantic shell game. Can't believe it has moved this far without more transparency. If Kc has to pay for it, we need to know more about the discussions and more meetings need to be help publicly and broadcast on Channel 2.

This is no longer a private deal, if the taxpayers are on the hook, we have a right to know how our money is being spent.

    1. Hey, what's 2.9 billion between friends?

    2. KC should not have agreed to the deal without seeing the plans first. But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't start construction now. We have waited long enough and if something doesn't get built soon we'r never going to have a new airport.

  2. New airport by 2031!

    Thanks Sly!

  3. sLIE’s plan fell apart when he tried to steal the 351 million from the airport to get this thing rolling, problem was, the faa said not only no but hell no. I wish they would have let him and then sent his fat worthless clown ass to federal prison.

  4. The news just announced another worthless hoodrat murdered on 30th street! We might hit 140 before the years out!!!!

  5. Slie and the council are in desperation mode but everything is going according to plan. Eventually Edgemoor will bail as the time frame is not to there advantage. Then the knight in shining armor, Burns and Mac, will come swooping in to save the asses of Slie and the clowncil. Bad thing they will be saving Jolie's ass and that is the disgusting part.

@6:18 is about correct on the airport but should be 2033 and after it has cost the taxpayers $2 billion before it is even started.

  8. Everyone should remember that “taxpayer” money won’t be used.
As the price likely goes to $5 Billion and the design deviates from the original- some will say the evolution is a lie while others will proclaim victory- none of this looks coherent nor organized.
A solution is to let Johnson County Airport rise from the ashes. The smarter people over on the Kansas side can make something work that we are proud of and provide the public transportation that doesn’t include silly scooters and streetcars.
The KCI airport and be Version 2 of the Wheeler Airport... or bulldoze it.

  9. ^^You stupid simp @8:03AM, an airport in Johnson county would double the cost of the one in Kansas City as there are no existing runways or infrastructure in place. There is also no sufficient land available to build said airport, so are you going to use eminent domain? Your post is typical of the morons who peruse this site; they are utter fucking morons and have no idea what they are talking about. Go away!

  12. KC taxpayers are eventually going to get so screwed on this. And no one should be surprised, this thing was doomed from the start. Look at the people involved, they make our city look ridiculous.

  14. (Justus, Reed, Fowler, James are asshole idiots. Langely you are idiot. If you want to build something now, do not build the proposed scheme from Edemoor and SOM.

  15. You really think City Council does anything other then trying to not look stupid and out of their league when all these negotiations with developers happen?

The only input the clowncil put's into all these deals is asking the question.. Is it shovel ready?

  21. The ponsors of this bill will be PAID back in political donations or through shell corporations many many shell consultant corporations. This entire NEW airport idea was a sucker's deal from the very start.

  22. We already are Detroit, only our corrupt mayor hasn’t gone to prison yet

  23. Plenty of room in Johnson County.
Expansion of existing JoCo airport with buyouts of neighboring land- that’s how KCI was born- buybouts.
Also- the landfill has some nice adjacent land..very spacious.
It would put it in the middle of great schools, well run cities, and smart leaders...all which should be enticing to airlines.
Plus- it could get done with good organization and a lack of drama.

  24. ^^Ugh no it couldn't. Hey Genius, those executive airport runways are in no way long enough for passenger jets. That's just basic knowledge, sorry you're dumb enough not to understand that. Please refrain from ever posting again until you can understand simple c urban planning concepts. Dolt.

  27. New Century in Olathe has plenty of room to expand and modernize. Then Amazon can get is made in China shit in more easily.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The area where the Sunflower ammunition plant was is available. Yes the area needs to be cleaned up so might as well clean it up and concrete over it.

The new Sunflower airport would be more centralized for Olathe, Gardner, Topeka, Lawrence, Kansas City and Martin City.

  29. Let Jonson County build the Airport andlet their residents shoulder the entire tax burden of itsconstruction and operation, Johnson County has a much higher tax base. Johnson County doesn't even help pay for the Zoo, like the suburban ares do in the St Louis area. Yes...Let JOCO take the Airport, as it has brought no economic development to Kansas city proper. Kansas City would still benefit because the airport would actually be closer to the mass of Kansas city,
