TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CANDIDATES SCRAMBLE TO EARN JASON KANDER ENDORSEMENT IF/WHEN JOLIE JUSTUS DOESN'T MAKE GENERAL ELECTION CUT!!!

Let's call this one . . .

THE PLIGHT OF THE KANSAS CITY DEUCE . . .

Here's the long and short of it . . .

KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CANDIDATES DESPERATELY SCHMOOZE TEAM KANDER TO EARN THE BACK UP NOD IF COUNCIL LADY JUSTUS DOESN'T MAKE IT TO THE GENERAL ELECTION!!!

Yes, the daily rag is desperate to recast Councilmember Jolie as the front runner but that seems silly given how easily she dropped out of the fight when confronting a real challenger. Like it or not, the double take eroded the confidence in her decision-making among the hardcore local political pundits.

The reality, Kansas City voters beyond Midtown would be hard-pressed to pick her out of a crowd. Her popularity outside of the small pond of lawyers and social justice advocates is virtually nil and all of the social media spamming in the world isn't going to change this fact.

And so . . .

BOTH TEAM QUINTON AND TEAM TAYLOR ARE NOW IN THE HUNT FOR SOME OF THAT SECOND HAND KANDER LOVE!!!

They say that politics makes strange bedfellows and this crowded contest is going to get downright freaky before it's all said and done.

Council dude Taylor has some pretty great Democratic Party connections that should appeal to the Kander camp.

Meanwhile, Councilman Quinton still has the love of the KCMO Black Community political elite which should garner a nice bit of street cred for the inevitable Kander comeback that's already being hinted at via Twitter.

And so, in this crowded contest we see politicos looking for every advantage they can get as our BRILLIANT TKC TIPSTERS notice that Jason Kander might help determine the fate of the mayoral contest after all.

  1. Jolie will not make it past the primary, she's a hillary & mccaskill candidate with more enemies in brookside than she could ever imagine.

    1. She should have stayed in the 4th, would've been hard to beat there. Anywhere else in KC she's not very popular.

    2. Hitching your wagon to Jason Kander is a risky proposition. He's great on Twitter but that hasn't translated to votes yet. It might be good for some talk show appearances or maybe a good podcast to show other people, but that's about it.

Agree about the social media spamming however. One of the candidates is always in my feed and the only thing that he has convinced me to do is block his account.

  2. No more members of council for mayor, please.

They had their chance and they failed.

  6. Who in the hell in their right mind would want to inherit the Sly James mess? Besides and idiot on the take being paid off under the table.

  7. Like wanting to be the top turd in a pile, why would anyone want that job ?

  8. ^^^^^^^ Lol! Good point.

    But

The public abuse is secondary, it's that step up the ladder to win the favor of corporations that pays off big time.

  9. I would like to know what shell Lander was involved in in Afghanistan...he was basically there for about four months on a desk job...that caused PTSD. LOTS of troops never got that. Was he involved in planning some operation where a bunch of civilians were killed? Kids? People are going to want to know if he ever hopes to get back in politics...he won't be able to hide this. Not at this point.

  10. Quinton is a drunken lying affirmative action law school lecturer.

  11. The only endorsement I would want would be from Diana Kander, preferably when she is wearing a short dress and black thigh high hose.

  12. Whatever happened to Quinton's DUI in Lawrence? He tried to drive his car from in front of Merchants bar on a Thursday (aka as gay night in Lawrence) and now has a DUI on his record, but no jail time or community service?

  13. Reno favors Scott Wagner!

  14. Jolie is toast, she is going to get 4,072 votes and that's it. Glad to see her gone from KC council.

  15. Maybe St. Lukes or KU Med will say we cured the great Kander of his illness and he's back in our service, er your service.

    ^^^ +1

  18. She's certainly lost the 20% of her 4th District constituents located north of the River!

Nobody up there believes she even knows they're part of her District.

  19. You'd have to be pretty desperate to think that a Pander endorsement could help your candidacy.
    Let's review Pander's own record:
Lost a U S Senate race, in which his enormously exaggerated "military record" produced the most popular campaign videos.
Started a fake nonprofit mostly to enhance his won name recognition.
Worked to get lots of face time on cable television.
Made believe that he might be a presidential candidate and showed up in both Iowa and New Hampshire.
Returned triumphantly to KCMO preparing to be crowned a mayoral candidate shoo-in and landed with a resounding thud.
Justus headed for the exits and withdrew from the mayoral race.
Mysteriously withdrew from the campaign due to "PTSD".
Still, he involved himself in the McCaskill campaign, only to lose again.
    Now Pander's back supporting Justus
But, in the likely event that she loses in the primary, who else would like the "Pander bump"?
It might be easier to sell a bag full of bricks to a swimmer.
What a weak ship of fools.

  22. Kander favors Lucas.

  23. 7:23, thanks for the review.

How quickly they forget! In his announcement withdrawing from the Mayor's race, Pander unequivocally stated that he'd had suicidal thoughts, multiple times over a lengthy period of time.

If you think he's coming back into politics as a candidate, you're wrong. He can get treatment from the VA (antidepressants, counseling, etc.) but he's not going to hold elective office again.

We should wish him well, he found a way to escape the trap of being a politician.

Quinton Lucas may have been subconsciously seeking an escape from politics as well, with his DUI charge. He's been chasing after his mother's dream, and it's time he reclaimed his life for his own goals.

Keep your eyes on Steve Miller, as he's smart, competent, and should be well-positioned when the next round of contenders gets the boot. And the boot is coming!

  26. Jokie’s List of accomplishments:

She ramrodded a shitty airport deal that will cost taxpayers a fortune. Completely screwed Kansas City for years.

She turned her back on Westport when all they asked for was a way to keep it safer.

She presided over a completely worthless anti-crime task force that produced nothing and now we are in the top 5 most violent cities in the nation.

Lastly, she was in the race then ran scared. She then left her district in the dust and now asks is to trust her again.

    Complete bullshit.

  28. Bullys in the 3rd and 5th districts gang up and dominate the conversation in the council. Lohr was the council member who was interested in looking at a refurbishment of the existing terminals. She also pointed out that the new airport proposal which was approved had fewer terminals than the existing airport configuration.
She is one of the few council members I actually trust.

  29. Yes, Jolie has been a disappointment, particularly to midtown neighborhoods. Very ambitious, but not a good listener. Let's hope her bike boys and density folks can save her career, at the word is out.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Please Jason Kander, don't give Jolie much support. She hasn't been very good for our city. If you thought so, you wouldn't have ran in the first place!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jolie Justus is S'lie James 2.0. Why the fuck would we want 4-8 more years of that? Increasing taxes every single year due to poor fiscal policy high crime, bad schools, corruption, lies....Yeah, the city has a new streetcar, new hotel on the way and a new airport that may or may not ever even get built. All of which is going to cost tax payers 10s (if not 100s) of millions of dollars while her and the rest of her ilk get paid and get to avoid the shit storm that will destroy the working class due to their poor governing.
