A Roeland Park, Kansas teen caught while attempting to steal boots for work was surprised when he was instead presented with the boots as a gift. Roeland Park police responded to the Walmart on Roe Boulevard on Thursday afternoon after a juvenile was caught shoplifting.

LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska's newest state travel guide mistakenly features a picture of a Christmas celebration at Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri. The Omaha World-Herald reports that a production error allowed the picture of the Kansas City station to be used instead of Union Station in Omaha.

Community rallies around Lenexa firefighter with cancer
Hundreds of people showed up to a fundraiser Saturday for a Lenexa, Kansas, firefighter battling cancer. Michael Wells became a firefighter more than 13 years ago. "I wanted to do something where you have teammates the rest of your life," he said. In October, Wells was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer.
