This is exactly what Sprint would have done if the merger had gone the other way.
ReplyDeleteIt's called "Asset Stripping", and it was outlawed here before Ronald Reagan removed the ban on US Banks participating in "Leveraged Buyouts' which he did by Executive Order during his first week in office. The major European Countries had banned it in the late 1970s, but it has continued as a "normal" practice in the US, with Sears/K-Mart and Toys-R-Us two of the most recent and egregious examples.
Tough on the Sprint employees who weren't able to find any other jobs, but that's American Capitalism for you.
Yeah, basically T-MO is making a Spectrum play. With that said, not everyone will be shit canned. If you're finance, marketing or some other redundant function, it's probably a good idea to be ready with the resume. However, business sales, sales support and the like, is probably not the worst place to be. T-MO will probably lease a few buildings and the rest of the campus will be sold.
