Kansas City Green Hype Persists

Not so long ago Mayor Kay Barnes championed 10,000 rain gardens in order to save this town from impending sewer FAIL . . . Her effort was ahead of its time and mostly clowned by locals. Here's the latest "green" initiative that doesn't even provide a fun weekend project but instead only offers talking points for the politicos running for office. Read more:

Making KC greener could mean more density

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Affordable housing, public transportation, job location and creation all play a part in making a city greener, and vice versa. City leaders say if we want to address one, we need to address them all. Making KC more dense could be a solution to making it greener and more accessible.

  1. LAMO is right! This makes no sense and is not going to do a thing! The city is losing more business now than ever!

  2. KC is the most sprawling, inefficient, more highways miles per capita city in the country. This will never happen. KC people dont like living close to other people. It's a giant small town.

  3. I’m still trying to figure out how cramming more people in a smaller area “improves city services” any city official involved in this is an idiot, raytown started a project like this some years ago and it failed billy, cute at first but people don’t want to be that close together, pervs like it though!

  7. Just the latest tripe in a long list of fanciful unrealistic and impractical six-figure "urban studies" that will now join the others in the dusty basement at 12th and Oak.
Selling crappy fantasy by consultants is one of the few growth industries in KCMO and the ease at which the airhead electeds at city hall buy into this crap never ceases to amaze.
How about eliminating the downtown loop?
Or turning the overpass over the interstate into a park?
Or even a new baseball stadium downtown?
Maybe even Clay's gondolas and a huge dome over the entire city!
Both the possibilities and apparently the taxpayer money to fund them are endless.
    Have a big big idea?
    Get in line.
