KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- Instead of decorating her Christmas tree with her son, a Kansas City mother is searching for justice, hoping police catch his killer. Her 23-year-old son, Darian Sanders, was shot in an apartment complex parking lot near 81st and Campbell. Monique Sanders says losing a child is unbearable.

Olathe man charged with aggravated incident liberties with teenager

JOHNSON COUNTY, KS (KCTV) - Police arrested a 24-year-old Olathe man Thursday who they say sexually abused a teenager. Blake Vanaman Lee was booked on a charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Investigators said the abuse happened between August and September of this year in Johnson County and that the victim was under 16 years old.

Kansas City teens charged after guns, Tasers stolen from police car

KANSAS CITY, MO (AP) - Two Kansas City men are facing federal gun charges after firearms and police equipment were stolen from an unmarked police car. Leronte Swinton and Carvon Brown, both 19, are charged with illegal possession of stolen firearms. Federal court documents show the two are suspects in several car break-ins and thefts around Kansas City and in Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties.

Former charter teacher charged with more child sex crimes

More sex crime charges have been filed in Kansas against a former Missouri charter school teacher. The Kansas City Star reported that Randall Carter II, 42, of Overland Park, Kansas, was free on bond when he was arrested again Friday. He had been teaching at Lee A.

Texas shooting suspect arrested in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - A man from Texas was arrested in KCMO after fleeing the scene of a shooting. Benito Gutierrez, 20-year-old Anna, Texas man, shot a man in Anna early Thursday morning. Police responded to the shooting around 3 a.m. near a housing development.

Missouri Gov. Parson calls for prescription drug monitoring program

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Missouri Gov. Mike Parson voiced his support for a statewide drug monitoring program Thursday during a visit to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Currently, Missouri is the only state that does not have a tracking system for doctors to see if patients are abusing prescription medication.
