KANSAS CITY CHIEFS CLINCHER CONTEST: OPEN THREAD AMID HOPE AGAINST HYPE!!

Now in the winter of our discontent Kansas City looks to its long suffering football franchise for hope in the new year and validation of their faith.

Today is critical not only for the team but also for this town confronting bad news in terms of an ongoing government shut down, political divisiveness, rising violence and fading consumer confidence.

Sadly football fans always seem to tune out real life in Kansas City, even today's tragic turn of events:

Fox4: 2 early morning shootings in the metro leave 2 adults with serious injuries, 4-year-old with minor injuries

And so . . .

The hope of an American city rests on the capable shoulders of a rising star who has built his public persona on great plays and a love of ketchup.

  1. Chiefs should win today but that's not going to help them much in the playoffs. Sorry guys.

    1. Arrowhead is already a mess. No joking here, really hope that everyone is safe and lives to fight another day. I love the team but hate all that tailgaiting garbage.

      Go Chiefs!

    2. Everybody keeps on saying "one and done" but that might be too pessimistic. I don't see any way they will beat the Pats this year but a trip to the AFC championship isn't a totally horrible occurrence.

      Think about it!

  2. Every city has a billionaire Donald Trump running corrupt practices for 25 years and no prosecutor on the Fed, State and local level never went after them, though it would have helped their political career.

  6. So let me get this straight, NO ONE is to be allowed to go about their lives and activities because of the homicide problem in the hood and the government shutdown?? Is that it. Everyone is to refrain from engaging in any activities until the government is back open and there are ZERO homicides in KC??

So tell me, what do the people at Arrowhead have to do with either? Why don’t you go down to Troost or Prospect and tell them to quit killing each other instead of trying to pin some phony blame or guilt trip on people who have nothing to do with the problem you love to lament?

Do you even believe what you post Tony? Or is your objective here just to try and piss off people who seem to have a grudge against for some unknown reason?

    1. ^^^^ Good point. We need sports for jobs and entertainment. We can't be always in mourning.

  7. After the Chiefs beef and fries with Mahomes ketchup. We packed the Red SUV, secured our Chiefs vehicle, alarm on purchased from Chiefs car alarm LLC, and I had the wife and kids change into their Chiefs game Jerseys. We then proceeded to the stadium in lock step, tickets in hand, wife and kids holding Chiefs flags, with me supervising. Upon arriving at our seat, it was time for the anthem. TEN HUT! Wife and kids sprung to attention, Chiefs caps off and hand on heart. Making the Chiefs great again. And no kneeling in this family. Now ordering Chiefs beverages, red cup only, hot chocolate for the kids with Mahomes marshmallows for half time before our Chiefs running in place 10 minute energization pre kick off exercise.

Thanks for your agreement. I appreciate that someone at least understands what I was trying to point out. Now don’t misunderstand of course, i’m not excusing the homicide problem and not trying to say that it’s not something that needs to be addressed by those who can do something to resolve it.

This implicit guilt trip (for lack of better word) of Tony’s by what he says here about the homicides in KC in a thread about people watching the Chiefs game - he can’t be serious. No reasonable rational person would say “Nope, I’m not watching sports, going to local events or doing anything else in everyday life as long as there’s shootings down in the hood. In fact I’m turning this game off RIGHT NOW.”

Because any rational person knows that there’s nothing any of us can do about it. The fans in the seats at Arrowhead right now: there’s nothing they can do about it. And amongst all of the aforementioned, none of us are responsible for the shootings down in the hood.

Go down to Prospect, Troost, Cleveland, Lynwood, Independence Avenue and tell the locals there to quit pulling guns on each other.

  15. ^^^^ WTF. Grow up cabron. Stop trying to be an Internet tough guy. It's a losing game and you're just giving TKC more hits. It's your time, spend it how you want. I'm just saying that you would be better served trying to engage in a conversation that's at least halfway productive.

  19. I absolutely hated that ebonics laced commercial that kept playing "We ready, for y'all" to the tune of "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye", showing majority POC with furrowed brows. What was that commercial supposed to sell? Racism?
