Kansas City Blogging Against X-Mas Politics

A faith-based perspective on the mythic "war against Christmas" that fills the content void during the winter doldrums. Take a look:

No Christian holiday is as political as Christmas: 12-21-18

Just a few days until Christmas, let's just go ahead and upset almost everyone by declaring the first Christmas to be ripe with political meaning. When Christians tell me they don't want to hear politics from the preacher in the...

  1. I agree. Why should Christmas be a Federal Holiday? It shouldn't. If Catholics and Christians want to schedule it as a vacation day or personal day OK. Then the Atheists and non Christian people can work. It would help reduce the deficit because people would have to work on that day to earn money, no freebies, no paid holiday. Even the banks would be open and city and county offices too. What? You aren't going to give up your paid day off? Maybe you're more Christian than you want to believe, or just lazy and greedy.
Typically the people of the Jewish faith have often volunteered to work Christmas so their Christian co-workers could have the holiday off, it wouldn't be necessary. My thanks to them for their generosity towards their fellow man.
Merry Christmas a little early to all, I'm taking the day off without pay.

  4. The depictions of Jesus at Christmas and Easter should NOT be as European, because Jesus was a Palestian Jew wns would resemble the indigenous people of what whe call the Middle East.

  7. 9:07, Jesus was an Israeli Jew...not a "Palestinian" Jew. There is no such thing, as there is no Palestine. Never was. It just started as a Roman Occupation term.

  10. ""There was an oppressive empire called Rome standing on the necks of faithful people like those who raised, fed, and clothed Jesus. The announcement of Jesus’ birth is a counter narrative to that empire. The Romans offered Pax Romana, 'Roman peace,' which came through allegiance to the Emperor and the death of Rome’s enemies.

    "Jesus brought something very different.

"Mary’s child would dismantle political and religious systems of oppression by lifting women and lepers into the light of life."

Jesus, was, first and foremost, a "Jewish Zealot" in the tradition of the Maccabbees (See 166 BC revolution against Rome.). He was a "Nationalist" who would have built a wall in a fuckin second to keep the Romans out.

He was violent, strident and died for essentially starting a bar fight in the temple the weekend he died.

A Populist in the finest tradition of Donald J Trump.

The last hurrah for his "people" was Masada in 72AD.
