Hard Candy X-Mas For Kansas Family After Healthcare Crisis Leaves Them Homeless

Before readers attempt to feel superior about the paltry money in their piggy bank, remember that medical bills are the biggest cause of all U.S. bankruptcies.

And so, here's an important story that should remind us to be thankful and realize the healthcare system is just as screwed up as any other American institution. And that might be the reason so many hotties are dying from Brazilian butt lift surgery. Checkit:

Kansas family warns others that Medicaid can take your house

ELMWOOD, KS (KCTV) -- A Kansas family is warning others that Medicaid can take your house. It's a lesson learned the hard way after a grandmother battled cancer and spent her final years in a nursing home. "People need to know they are going to do this.

  1. You can thank Barry for this catastrophe, this would be an excellent cause to protest, but alas, people are too stupid to protest the real, important issues.

  2. ^^^^^^^^^ That's a good theory but it's wrong. Most of the changes or "reform" was from the Republicans when they started tinkering with ACA, Medicare and Medicaid. Obamacare isn't perfect but it was better than the disaster that Trumpcare created.

    We need singlepayer healthcare NOW!

  3. ^^^ bullshit, you have no idea what you're talking about. America has been bankrupting its citizens for decades. We're the only country in the world that backrupts its citizens over healthcare. We're the only country in the world that relies on employers to pay for healthcare. This isn't because we're smarter than everyone else, it is because we have the worst, most inefficient, ineffective, wasteful system on Earth. Our defense budget this year is 717 TRILLION dollars. Since 1998 the Dept of Defense is unable to account for 21 TRILLION dollars! Yes, that is correct, 21 TRILLION gone into thin air. One TRILLION dollars a year the DoD has no idea what happens to it. Don't believe me look it up. We can afford health care. Our fucking lobbyists, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and politicians who all bribe each other to profit off this massively inefficient system fool you into thinking this is a great system.

NO YOUR WRONG on that, it was Obamacare. Things like this were fine for people who were under insured and the tax payer picked up the slack, until Obama came in and tried to implement his bogus plans. Obama is the one who messed things up, even Bill Clinton said Obamacare was a disaster. Not only did Obama cause this but his healthcare plan also put small business owners under, and created a disaster for the economy. At least Trump has brought the economy back and will take some time to fix the mess Obama made!

  6. ^^No @6:45AM. Wrong again. Your partisan bias does not allow you to see things how they really are. Please educate yourself on this issue. Take a good look at what the republicans, particularity old boy Josh Hawley have done to block Medicaid Expansion and to sue the government to strip your healthcare. The economy is back?!? Please...stock market is now a bear market. No gains for the year. Interest rights rising, manufacturing jobs leaving due to tar riffs. Consumer goods costing more due to tariffs. Farms unable to sell their crops because China isn't buying anymore. Oil production in America at a standstill, and laying off thousands of workers because OPEC flooded the market. Yea dummy, the economy is roaring back. You idiot.. stay stupid. Faux News and your criminal President want you that way!

  7. I'm calling bullshit here. That Medicaid can take your house has been a policy for years, and people on Medicaid should be aware of that. In the late 1990s I bought a house from a woman's family. The woman was in a nursing home and had very little money. I told her family maybe the money from the house would help her out. They said it wouldn't because money from the sale of the house had to go to Medicaid. If I'd known that, I would have paid less for the house, but the policy has nothing to do with Obama, Trump, or Obamacare.

The economy is terrific, jobs are coming back, and we are the strongest, bestest, richest nation on earth! There is abundant health care, low crime, and jobs, jobs jobs for everyone! Ruthless criminals are overrunning our borders though.

  11. 8:18 is right on the money. Medicare seizure of assets has been a policy since at least the 90's when I became aware of it, likely much longer. It's a forked up situation as is designed to offset care costs from people who have a lot of value tied up in an estate. These people, living in Grandma's $50k house in the middle of nowhere, should be some manner of exempt. 'Cause what happens now is the family goes on to full welfare rolls which is likely going to cost more than any recovery from the house.

  12. There is a certain period of lookback too that people need to be aware of. If grandma is starting to not do so well, get the house transferred to someone else, or tied up in a trust that she doesn't own, maybe as long as 4 years before she goes into care. I predict I'll see this exact same situation in my hood where a nearby neighbor, an old woman, has at least 3 fully-grown grandchildren living with her (like 30's & 40's). None work. The only productive member of that family appears to have been the grandfather.

  15. "...medical bills are the biggest cause of all U.S. bankruptcies." Not true, or at least not proven. The accompanying 2013 article only refers to "medical related bankruptcies," without defining that phrase. A bit more research discloses that the term comes from a 2009 study authored in part by Fauxcahontas herself, Elizabeth Warren. That alone should make us suspect that something is wrong with this picture. And there is something wrong. In her study, Warren assumed that any bankruptcy with a medical related debt of $5,000 or more was caused by the medical debt...even if non medical debts may have totaled a million bux. Warren's academic research on bankruptcies is trash. An earlier paper which she co-authored was deemed "scientific malpractice" by the law professor who reviewed it.

But as the saying goes, a lie gets halfway around the world before truth can put his boots on. So it's the lie that people keep repeating, even, I am sorry to say, TKC..

  17. It is truly frightening how fucking stupid a good third of this country is. That third also all happen to be Trump supporters. It blows me away a large segment of our society eschew, science, facts, and evidence. A group of people for whom no amount of proof contrary to their Fox News spoon fed beliefs can change. A people who live in a world where 2+2=5. Btw, that is a literary reference which I'm sure you will not get because you never, and I mean never, read books. Your ridiculous beliefs and information are so factually incorrect yet you have no idea because you're so goddamn gullible you believe anything a Republican tells you. I bet you think the Mueller investigation has yielded zero guilty pleas and/or indictments.
