Federal workers unions sues government over shutdown

Leading into the New Year's holiday, one of the largest federal workforce unions on Wednesday sued the government over a requirement that "essential" employees must work without pay, ABC News reported. About 420,000 employees are considered to be essential - most within the Department of Homeland Security and Justice Department.

  2. Government employees have always been paid in full during these shutdowns. It may be delayed but it is paid. Sad thing is Republicans had the chance to get this done in the last 2 years and did not. shows that there is no difference between the two.
