Fair Warning: FBI Kansas City Talks Student Hoax Threat Consequences

Wasn't going to post this but it's probably important . . .

Whilst the hoax warning is just a little bit late after the midterm elections . . . It might serve to help local families. Still, this is the Internets so I'm not sure how it'll go over . . . And let's not pretend that there isn't a risk that joking a G-man's haircut (which is impeccable btw) or whatever might somehow result in a one way ticket to Guantanamo Bay.

Finally decided to post this one because it's a rare FBI warning geared toward the plebs as increased swatting threats and new trolling tech has authorities playing catch up with the Internets.

You've been warned, check the description . . .

"As students across Kansas and Missouri prepare for the Holidays, Darrin Jones, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Kansas City Division, would like to remind them and their parents of the serious consequences associated with posting hoax school threats online."

Take a look:

  1. I wouldn't think the gap between what authorities know and new tech is so great anymore. You look at the Wichita incident and it was obvious he didn't make much effort to hide himself at all.

The kind of dorks who do hoaxes aren't really operating at a very high level.

Hey TKC, you finally did find a way to make the Mueller report have some local context. Good for you!

  2. This public announcement should have metro residents wondering if the FBI has plans for an upcoming "active shooter drill" that just happens to go live, with real bullets and bodies.

Tip: If you're a young person with a prior history of mental health/law enforcement problems and a clean-shaven middle-aged man with short hair approaches you about playing a role in an undercover operation...just walk away.
