A classic argument against the Kansas City team is rehashed today on public radio "not as an issue of political correctness but one of public health."
The thesis is that harassment or bullying that stems from the cultural appropriation of the name and imagery contributes to the variety of social ills which impact the Native American community.

Health Experts Join The Push For Kansas City Chiefs To Stop Using American Indian Symbols
The Kansas City Chiefs are ranked No. 1 in the AFC West and come in at No. 4 in the just-released NFL power rankings. Chiefs fans are feeling proud. But there's also bullying.
Don't agree with all of this but one point is correct; they couldn't get away with this when it comes to any other ethnic group.
ReplyDeleteWho cares what Indians think anyway? Do we need to kick there asses again and give them even shittier reservations?
DeleteDeath by 1000 cuts of political correctness. Can't just enjoy the win streak? It's not going to last but taking on this team over this issue is just ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteSjw’s are offending me, can we get a protest to make them stop!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't these groups spend their time suing beer and liquor companies for promoting fire water on or around the reservations? There's a real health hazard. Instead of the Bureau of Indian Affairs assholes wasting billions of dollars, that money would have been better spent on the poor Indians in reservations.
ReplyDeleteThe Chiefs were not named after an Indian. They were named in honor of Mayor H. Roe Bartle, who was called "Chief" by everyone who knew him. He was the "Chief" of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, which was a local scout honor association. Indians never had anything to do with the name, the scout honor association, or H Roe Bartle.
ReplyDeleteNO WAMPUM, NEED WAMPUM TO USE NAME. CLARICE DAVIS TOLD THEM TO GET WAMPUM.
ReplyDeleteFUCK 'EM. AIN'T GININ' NO WAMPUM.
I really think Notre Dame should change their nickname from the Fighting Irish. It might be offensive to Ireland.
ReplyDeleteI live close to a real Native American Indian and he is a huge Chiefs fan. He has no issues with anything about the name or tomahawk chop or any of that crap. So in the end just who really has their panties in a twist over this?
ReplyDeleteI think KU should change their name from Jayhawks to Homosexuals for obvious reasons. Probably 90% of the male population in Lawrence and KU are homosexuals.
ReplyDeleteFunny how some chief players kneel for so called black suppression but they don't have a problem offending Indians. How about let's all just be Americans and stop the Hillary effect.
ReplyDeleteforgot to mention "The U.S. Senate on Thursday passed a bill aimed at battling the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women in the United States, requiring better crime data reporting and collection from law enforcement and creating guidelines for responding to such cases...There is no single comprehensive database tracking these cases so there’s not a set number of how many women are actually missing, and the current legal framework surrounding these cases is a quagmire of jurisdictional issues among tribal police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and state police... The bill must pass the U.S. House and be signed by President Donald Trump before becoming law."
ReplyDelete^^^That was the theme of the movie "Wind River." Not sure passing a law is going to cure the cluster flock that is law enforcement on and around the rez.
ReplyDeleteI quit watching the thugs in the NFL a couple of years ago when they started kneeling for the National Anthem.
ReplyDeleteThe implementation of Native American symbolism (Names, uniforms, arrowheads etc.), for those idiots whose inability to understand nuance, or, what is dramatically right in their faces, is because, once again, dumbfucks, we admire Native Americans and revere the culture and heroes that Native American culture produced.
But, what the fuck, I am ready to come back to the NFL, if, the Chiefs change their names to - THE KANSAS CITY CAUCASIANS.
I will buy season tickets, eat the fuckin ice cream, wear the T-Shirts, drink the beer and cheer on the home team like the fanatic I once was!
WHADYA SAY CLARK!?!?!?!?!?!? Let's solve this problem.
I'll go along with @ 227 IF the native Americans (and I think I am one since I was born here) will stop using symbols of Horses, Buffalo, Bison, Foxes, Wolves, Deer, Squirrels, Beavers and other animals in their war like artwork. It is probably terrifying to those animals.
ReplyDeleteAlso about the missing native american woman....where is Sharice Davids? I think she has been missing since the election.
You won’t be hearing much from Sharice. That dumb cunt is busy in D.C. eating pussy and there is a lot of pussy there to eat.
DeleteAh yes "the experts"
ReplyDeleteLOL
12:43 your on the money. These groups have to much time on there hands. And most Indians know the CHIEF'S were not named after an Indian Chief. And there are native American CHIEF'S fans. There at game and Sports Bars injoying the game. Let's piss, the Organisation off CHIEF'S fans let's go buy American Indian parifonila.
ReplyDeleteAsk Chief fans about changing the name right after their playoff elimination. They won’t care at all.
ReplyDeleteKCUR = Jew Bullshit
ReplyDeleteIt is helping the Indians assimilate, it's about time ya know.
ReplyDeleteLet me get this straight, the chiefs are racist but murderous black hate crimes against whites is not? What the hell is going on around here?
ReplyDeleteWe all are racists to some extent. Indians, whites, Asians, negroes.
ReplyDelete4:55 I they renamed the Chiefs, "The Indian Creek Black On White Hate Crime Killers" no one would say shit.
ReplyDeleteWhitey is fair game.
^^^^^Quick question, how do you get through the day being retarded as you are? I mean you really should’ve finished school. You’re ignorance and outright stupidity is baffling. Fucking dope.
ReplyDelete(((Richard E. Besser))), (((Gina Kaufmann))), (((Michael Friedman))). Have you ever noticed that all "experts" on what's racist are always Jews ?
ReplyDeleteparentheses, that's a new testament thing.
ReplyDeleteswear to gaawd, you fools are like a gold mine.
ReplyDeleteProgressive "health experts" are correct. Lets erase any memory of native americans so we can forget about them for good.
ReplyDeleteHow progressive!
Well for the sake of PETA maybe teams should stop using names like Tigers ,Bears,Bobcats , Bearcats ,Falcons so we don't offend anyone . All you PC people need to get a life .
ReplyDeleteWhat are indians?
ReplyDeleteI'm 100% Hekawi and I don't care.
ReplyDelete^^^Can you do the Hekawi war dance?
