Thanks to a vast array of KICK-ASS INSIDERS AND TKC EXPERT READERS, our blog community achieved a journalistic milestone . . .
TKC WAS THE FIRST KANSAS CITY NEWSY OUTLET TO DECLARE THE NEW KCI SINGLE-TERMINAL AIRPORT STALLED!!!
Lesser pundit and hacks were promising that construction would start by the end of the year and now we have proven them wrong.
Accordingly, here's some of the top comments from our blog community on this tragic topic:
Real Deal:
"How can a "deal" that never existed fall apart? Millions already spent on consultants and legal fees and there isn't even a serious plan or actual drawing of the building. This whole fiasco started out really weak and has actually gotten worse as it's moved along."
Mayor Sly Switcheroo:
"More delays as Mayor unilaterally puts a hold on Airport project until at least January according to press release and secret meeting. Didn’t even talk to Airport Committee."
Big Picture:
"Bait and switch and switch and switch."

You decide . . .
The bait and switch comment nails it, KC was sold a false bill of good on this project and now they're going to decide how the airport will function behind closed doors with no input.
ReplyDeleteWe need to start over.
But the remodel back on the table.
DeleteWhere is Jolie?
DeleteI thought she was going to make Airports great again?
She seems to be very quiet about the airport lately, isn't this her committee?
Where is she in the discussion. That is the question you need to be asking TKC!
A bit of hyperbole here but I get it. We all knew this airport was going to be a disaster but almost nobody was going to say it.
ReplyDeleteAlso like the some of the news stations are now talking about the stalled project.
Don't think this is going to get sorted out any time soon.
Best irony in the world.
DeleteAirport supporters complained and lied about long lines, now they're stuck in one of their own making. I would say that's priceless but it's actually costing about 2 billion dollars and the budget is still rising.
CFRG nailed it. The remodel plans they've pushed from the beginning are the way to go. It's time to begin a criminal investigation into this fiasco. $$$millions have disappeared with nothing to show for it!
ReplyDeleteThe public voted for this airport, there needs to be some accountability here. I don't see that from Mayor James.
ReplyDeleteJust remain silent till the public forgets and a way to jack up the price to 10 Billion can be achieved.
ReplyDeletethe mayors legecy will be the big airport swindle
ReplyDeleteLiterally everyone with half a brain knew this was a too good to be true prospect. Sad when the main media outlets were pushing this so hard. Has the star ever been right about anything?
ReplyDelete.... I don't know KCMO has become pretty good at just steam rolling over it's citizens the past four years.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or is this a tactic to get the airport project in Burns and McDonnells hands
ReplyDeleteIt's just you, shithead
ReplyDeleteThanks for the confirmation,twink!
Delete10:08 "the public voted for it"
ReplyDeleteMeaningless. The idiot KC voters will vote for anything, especially something costing taxpayers a shitload of money.
Kansas City Taxpayers be damned. The City was never really interested in a new airport...just interested in a having a new project through which the usual political donors and friends of present and past politicians could get PAID....just like the 18th and Vine Street Revitalization lol project.
ReplyDeletePut the Power and Light District and the Jazz Museum there too that way all the tax supported fun is in one place. Ring it with a nice section 8 housing project for the employees and you will not need Kansas City at all.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, see you guys at the single terminal airport groundbreaking.
ReplyDeleteJolie eats a lot of pussy but I don’t think airports are her thing.
ReplyDeleteHow in the world is ANYONE surprised at any of this??? There has been no transparency from the beginning and lots of issues because the mayor did not get his way with the company he wanted to use. And if anyone thinks the citizens of KC aren't going to get screwed on this they are woefully naive. It would be less complicated to just drive to St. Louis and fly out of Lambert.

ReplyDeleteI NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SAY THIS BUT THE STATE SHOULD COME IN AND TAKE OVER THIS CITY GOVT.
The TKC blog has been the best source of real news, behind the scenes action, and gossip scuttlebutt concerning all things KCI terminal from the get-go!
ReplyDeleteThis is where I find out what's really going on.
"More delays as Mayor unilaterally puts a hold on Airport project until at least January“ all the parties involved will be gone for the month on Christmas vacation, you know, the hamptons, Colorado, the Bahamas, anywhere but killa shitty!
ReplyDeleteAnd bow tie the clown sLIE and his clowncil won’t be around that’s for sure.
“Mayor city plan second look at new kci scope”
ReplyDeletesLIE’s been planning for a new airport for seven years and he still doesn’t have a clue, that should tell you something right there.
Sly, STFU about the airport
ReplyDeleteso many ppl, so few honors & rewards

ReplyDeleteWhy has the city council been MIA in this growing disaster? Lots of reasons, but one is Edgemoor's 'community benefits' program. 'Community benefits' is a euphemism for 'just short of bribery.' Edgemoor promised a slush fund worth 10s of millions that council members can spend on projects in their districts. These 'community benefits' are, in effect, campaign contributions. It didn't matter if Edgemoor was offering the best deal on the airport, it was talking directly to the political self-interest of council members; at least enough members to sway the final council vote in Edgemoor's favor. It gets worse. The FAA disallowed about one-half of the so-called community benefits because federal laws intend to prevent this kind of thinly veiled bribery. How eager do you suppose council members are to come down on Edgemoor and to explain why they went for this deal in the first place? This project should be based strictly on the cost of building the new airport, not on the project's payoffs to council members.
