TKC READER: FEAR KANSAS CITY FAULTY MIDTERM BALLOT?!?!

Great perspective on today's vote from a TKC Reader. Checkit:

Faulty Kansas City Ballot????

I have voted in every major election (and most of the minor ones) the last 35 years.

I heard about the length and complexity of this election's ballot in Jackson County. I typically look at a sample ballot prior to the election to familiarize myself with it because people know that I follow politics, and they ask me questions about it. I think the KC Star still publishes a copy in the newspaper. For years I have been looking at them online. Yesterday, I downloaded a sample ballot from the KC Board of Elections:

https://www.kceb.org/elections/ballot

I have never seen a ballot with so many ballot initiatives in my life. The thing is 12 PAGES LONG! And it is SLOPPY with many formatting errors.

Please take a look at pages 9 and 10, where large parts of the ballot language are omitted, and the yes and no bubbles are missing. Did anybody proof read the thing? I tried to call them today, but not surprisingly their number was busy all day long. The pages in question are for the cannabis questions, and I feel like there could be a basis for a court challenge due to the faulty sample ballot.

I hate to be "that guy" but the best (in my opinion) cannabis question "Proposition C" and the minimum wage issue "Proposition B" both have their language almost entirely excised. Hmmmm.

Still, I would ask you to implore your readers (and by extension the local media) to study the ballot BEFORE arriving at the polls. Short of that, READ a copy while waiting in line. I have a feeling there is going to be HIGH TURNOUT of NOVICE VOTERS and the complex ballots will
cause DELAYS and LONG LINES. Also let them know, that if they are unfamiliar with a candidate or issue, they can feel free to LEAVE PARTS BLANK, they are not required to answer every question. Voting for issues/candidates that you are unsure of is not good civics.

Thanks,

CB

  1. Should be no surprise that there might be confusion at the ballot box. KCMO and Jackson County are totally confused.

  3. Good point on proposition voting. Sometimes I leave them blank if I'm not up to speed.

  4. Research clean Missouri and VOTE NO ON 1. The way it reads is deceitful. It's funded by George Soros and a way to get the democrats in red counties because they lost and are sore losers.

  5. ^^Shut up moron. Your Soros shit renders you a fucking idiot. I would listen to a word you said about anything.

  6. @8:30 Excuse me, but @8:27 is correct. It is a FACT that Soros pushed 1.
You should really do your homework before responding so quickly.

  10. @9:19 Soros worked for the Nazis. FACT. So who is the anti-Semite? And you should check yourself before throwing around insults. That is all you got! Hilarious!

  11. ^^^Soros worked for the Nazis? The same George Soros that was barred from attending school by the Nazis because he was Jewish, I take it? Say hello to Alex Jones for me.

  12. @11:58AM "CEE BEE(? ha!) no that's not all I have for an insult, how about this: Take your daddy Drump's dick out of your gaped ass and wake up. Worthless Trumpkin cocksucker. How about that?

  13. @12:07 I am sorry if the facts don't line up with your ideology, but yes, Soros did work for the Nazis, he admitted it on 60 minutes. This has nothing to do with Alex Jones, so find a new whipping boy.
And @12:16 More crude insults? Just proves you don't have an argument. So obvious. And so ANGRY. I can't wait to watch the returns tonight! Have a nice day.

  14. ^^That fact that you have nothing better to do with your day then to respond to insults on a blog, leads me to believe you watch Faux News all day and therefore are quite ignorant. I would tell you to stop, but this is likely all you have, so I won't bother. I pity you. God, I hope I don't end up like you when I'm your age.

  17. @1:02 PM And yet here you are doing the same thing. I am on vacation this week. What is your excuse? And just more put downs from you. Are you ever going to make a cogent argument? I thought not.
