TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY CHIEFS QB PATRICK MAHOMES TROLLS FAKE NEWS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING!!!

In the midst of a win streak, enthusiasm over the Kansas City Chiefs is understandably high and local news captivates viewers by covering every angle of the team's success. However, the irrational exuberance of local journalists and fans has unwittingly delivered mislabeled marketing content to unsuspecting viewers.

To wit and at the risk of ruining a good time . . .

KANSAS CITY ADVERTISING INSIDERS WARN US THAT PATRICK MAHOMES NAME DROPPING HIS FAVORITE BRANDS ON SOCIAL MEDIA IS NOTHING MORE THAN MARKETING AND NOT NEWS OR AN INSIGHT INTO HIS REAL LIFE!!!

Here's the word and a welcomed bit of myth-busting from denizens of our AWESOME TKC BLOG COMMUNITY within the industry . . .

"We live in a world where Kylie Jenner gets about $1-Million a pop for her social media posts. I'm absolutely certain that Kansas City's star quarterback is already making important deals to leverage his fame.

"What's sad is that nobody in Kansas City is calling him out on it. Only an idiot would believe multi-millionaire still has a taste for the truly mediocre Whataburger chain or that he's really putting ketchup on everything he eats . . .

"In a certain sense, it's fun and some brands have been smart enough to try and leverage the mania and garner a bit of "earned coverage" from his promotional posts without paying up front. But none of this should be relevant for more sportscasts.

"The Patrick Mahomes brand mentions in segments labeled "news" could be reporting on far more serious issues like injury and deaths associated with football or even offering viewers more coverage of the current NFL officiating crisis. So, I'm sending this one your way, TKC, if only because it's scary to think that Kansas City residents are getting content about hamburgers and ketchup stuffed down their throat and mistaking it for news.

"Even lowly, local sports news."

To wit, here's a quick myth-bust that should help our blog community and local new watchers in general . . .

MOST SOCIAL MEDIA BRAND MENTIONS BY CELEBS ARE SIMPLY BAD ADVERTISING NOT NEWS!!!

In an era wherein Prez Trump is fighting the good fight to keep his taxes secret expecting celebrity disclosure is far too much to ask, instead we offer our blog community nothing more than a reality check and a helpful reminder to take everything with a grain of salt which might be helpful given the nasty foodie fare touted by this town's favorite new football hero.

You decide . . .

  1. There is an argument to be made on both sides of this equation except for the fact that whataburger is truly disgusting. Hope they never come to this town, they're not even worthy of Waco, Texas.

    1. Funny ketchup picture.

As for Mahomes, if he brings home a super bowl then he can sell whatever he needs to.

    2. One and done in the playoffs, he's got to make his money while he can. Maybe he'll get creative and get some marketing money for extra large condoms - Something that Chiefs fans will buy but never use.

  2. Real news: the trade is already in the works. Hes' not going to waste his career in KC.

    1. ^^^^^^ Give it a rest. He is one of the best QBs in the league right now so I can forgive a few dumb tweets. With a team that's 9-1, he doesn't need to go anywhere and if he does win a super bowl I think the deals he get will be more up front than social media junk.

  5. Media warning must be geared toward the kids of idiots and morons who used to use AOL 25 years ago and decided to breed.

  6. Trump will continue to play, bang on the heads of the Dems/Progs like a set of cheap used bongos for a few more years.

  7. Most people born in the 80's can not even distinguish the difference between marketing, advertising, and real life.

Why even bother warning them they are a lost cause. Making the same mistakes previous generations did before them with their appetites for consuming only worse because they do not value or appreciate anything.

Jus gimme more cheap shit! The latest and greatest!

  8. I hear Mahomes has been hired to make a commercial already!

He'll be advertising Madame Louella's Skin Bleaching Crème!

    "It Done Wonders Fo' Me!"

  9. GOOD POST!

This highlights how television "news" has devolved into a cult of entertainment/celebrity worship.

If you're unfortunate enough to catch any local television news coverage, here's a quick breakdown of the typical half-hour:

    BREAKING!!!
There was a truck turnover accident on the highway today.
    Weather
    President Trump is evil.
A white police officer shot a black person today.
    Weather
All LGBT people are great and deserve special rights.
This week's highest grossing movies are...
Apple is introducing a new iphone.
A new hamburger chain is opening in the metro.
    Weather
    Entertainment Tonight preview.
We sent our 1 field reporter to the zoo to show you animals.
Chiefs upcoming game hype and Mahomes worship.
Then the anchors tell you which of the above "news" was their favorite story!

Everyone who works in local television news should be ashamed of themselves for being an accomplice in this crime.

  11. KC news isn't really news, mostly just a waystation for people who want to live somewhere else.

  12. I like Mahomes but the game is different today. He's not playing against the same rules and QBs in the past. Nowadays the QB is a glorified punter and is almost untouchable by the defense.

The games are higher scoring and more action packed. It's great but comparing the current stats to the old ones is just apples and oranges.

  13. Earlier Tracy mentioned voice lessons, that is a good idea. He might also want to learn how to play in the 4th quarter.

  14. I will buy whatever he wants me too IF he brings home a Super Bowl.

  15. Actually disappointed that he doesn't have better brands coming his way.
