TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! DISGRACE!!! KANSAS CITY MAYOR CANDIDATE PHIL GLYNN CONFRONTS CRITICISM AFTER 'GANGSTA GOODIES' FOODIE DEBUT!!!

Social media outreach has backfired on a Kansas City political hopeful who is hedging his campaign on urban core support.

First, a bit of background . . .

The "Gangsta Goodies Kitchen" is a poorly named local "urban" cooking show that seems like a fun time but probably not the best place to engage the inner-city electorate.

However, fugazi Kansas City political hopeful Phil Glynn recently made an unfortunate appearance on this program and the response from local thought leaders in the urban core has been swift and severe.

A simple message sent our way FIRST from a local opinion leader soured on the attempt at urban core foodie appeal:

"I can't begin to express how bad this video is."

Another denizen of OUR AWESOME TKC BLOG COMMUNITY offers some insight . . .

"This is cringe-worthy. Phil seems directionless. Kander crushed his hopes and stole his campaign manager (or it was a false flag the whole time, as many suspect), and now he is just flailing. I’m not sure I’ve seen more naked pandering than this. He needs a serious campaign consultant or to just step aside. I don’t think he’ll outlast this one.

"I just can’t get over that Prospect shirt!"

In our estimation . . .

THIS SLOPPY SCHMOOZE FROM FAKER PHIL GLYNN IS UNFORGIVABLE AS URBAN CORE VOTERS ARE ALREADY AWARE OF HIS SLIMY TACTICS HOPING TO INGRATIATE HIMSELF TO EAST SIDE VOTERS BY WAY OF SOCIAL MEDIA POSEUR TACTICS RATHER THAN ANY REAL WORK!!!

And now, without any further adieu, check the clip that might at least remove one name from the list of mayoral front runners . . .

You decide . . .

  1. You know, it's kind of a double edged sword. If you don't reach out then you get blamed for lack of out reach but if you do,then you're pandering.

However, I have to say this one is pretty painful. Phil could've done better.

    1. Desperation and a fishy smell. Also, this guy uses way too much lemon, that only hides the flavor. If he can't cook a damn fish then I don't want him in the mayor's office.

    2. it's a cooking show. He would do better to talk about the issues. I don't think this is a fatal blow for his camapign but it should remind him that people want to know about his policies not his fake persona.

  2. And here i thought that jolie has the market cornered on cringe.

  3. Atlantic City loves Scott Taylor.

    Or scott wagner.

    Split the difference.

  4. Cringe-worthy for sure, but he's no more a clown than the rest of the mayoral candidate menagerie.
    Justus and the airport fiasco.
Taylor's shameless pandering and wasting money on his "east side renaissance.
Lucas and his MLK shenanigens and DUI.
    Reed on pretty much everything.
Is Pander still out, or has he recovered?
You wouldn't hire any of them to so much as work the night shift at WalMart.
    Pathetic.

  5. Gangsta cooking is a thing, Jesus Christ those people are stupid

  6. He fills that shirt pretty nicely. He's definitely the best looking candidate running (and so tall!).

And he's not one to spread TIF funds willy-nilly.

  7. Phil is worthless but he would be better than having another black mayor

    ReplyDelete
  8. He probably can't sing and would be terrible at Karaoke too, but, just because he tries to be nice to black people doesn't mean he is a bad person.

If this is the worst idea he has and just plays golf with a bunch of other white guys the whole time he is mayor and doesn't get us involved in any multi-billion dollar vanity projects, we will be ahead of the game.

    "Hands Up!!! Don't Cook!!!"

  12. This is a race for mayor of Kansas City. Let's not expect too much from campaign consultants, polished personas, and high dollar advertising budgets. Did I mention this is a race for major of Kansas City? Hate to bust everyone's bubble but just because Phil hasn't spent a lifetime pandering to each constituency in KC does not make him unqualified. He's reaching out, he's getting in front of voters, and he's trying to show people who he is and why he should be mayor. I'm going to look at a successful business person, who has accomplished something other than pandering, for leadership that the city needs.

  13. Hmm just what KCMO needs another camera ready "celebrity brand" mayor.

  14. Kansas City Mayor Sly James appointed Glynn to the Tax Increment Financing Commission, an advisory body that makes recommendations to the Kansas City Council on an incentive that leverages property and economic activity taxes generated by a new development project.

James later pulled Glynn off the TIF Commission in 2015 after he voted against a headquarters for architecture firm BNIM proposed by Shirley Helzberg at a property she owns in the Crossroads.

LOL doesn't look like the Great White's (Sly's Masters) of the KCMO Oligarchy will install this guy.

    ReplyDelete
  15. At least he's trying, unlike Jolie or Wagner. Yo Phil, where can I get that shirt?

    ReplyDelete
  16. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

Well-to-do white male, wearing a Prospect shirt, appears on local cooking show aimed primarily at KC's urban core.

He talks about growing up in the Plaza area, being Catholic, attending Wake Forest, and living in France for a year. That's called building a rapport with your target audience!

Because it's a cooking show, he chooses to make a fresh salmon dish! Can the urban core find/afford fresh salmon at the city-owned Sunfresh grocery? On second thought, maybe a BBQ recipe would have been better.

Then, when the host ask about KCMO crime rate, education, jobs, affordable housing, etc., he speaks in platitudes which clearly tag him as a white guy with a comfortable life.

    Phil Glynn....you're FIYAH'D

    ReplyDelete
  17. This guy don't look like he's done an honest day's work in his life. He'd probably make a great mayor for KCMO.

I'd buy the shirt if the street sign had bullet holes.

  18. LOL^^ Good one, Gus! Ya busted my gut, bigly.

  19. What "thought leaders"?

    ReplyDelete
  20. 9:01's got it right. Did it ever occur to you geniuses that the powers that be are afraid of this guy and want to make him a laughing stock to protect their place at the public trough?

They want a Jolie or a Scott who've never seen a TIF they didn't like.

  21. What ?! "No Pay The King Family" shirt ?

  22. The ONLY people in history, who have EVAR givin a shit about black people, are white people. 300,000 whites died in the Civil War.

Muslims like blacks? No morons, they hate them.

And if any of you black folks, think, for even a millisecond, that Latinos are your "Bruthas" check this out.

Guess who is "Straight outta Compton" now?

    http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2013/10/24/as-demographics-shiftanewgenerationofleaderstakechargeincompton.html

In Los Angeles, Hispanics, entirely unemcumbered with "White Guilt" feel no peer pressure and suffer no social opprobrium, when flat the fuck out murdering blacks who show up in the wrong part of town.

    http://articles.latimes.com/2013/jan/25/local/la-me-0126-compton-20130126

Things are changing in LA and all over the US. For all of you "Hate Whitey" morons, it's time to wake up and vote for TRUMP.

Hispanics have zero exposure on any level from their society, when they do the same shit, you blacks have been doing to whites for the last 40 years.

I have friends in Inglewood (Yeah, you betta get yo ass outta there before sundown.) and they shoot blacks dead in the street, where just 20 years ago, the Crips and Bloods ruled the night.

    Just a heads up.

Maybe this white boy wouldn't be so bad after all. Hispanics (Lucky bastards) catch no heat from the media, from the government, WILL NOT BE TARGETED FOR A HATE CRIME and can expect no blow back from their neighbors for attacks on blacks, verbally or violently.

  23. No one's heard of this show so it doesn't hurt him. I'd never even heard of this guy before today so it helped me know he existed. I'd rather some dude go on a show and embarrass himself than not try at all

    ReplyDelete
  24. He screwed up by cooking salmon. How many people on the east side enjoy salmon? If you are a cheesy white dude with a urban cooking show wearing a prospect shirt you should know better. If you are cooking fish then it should be fried catfish with a side of greens.

A zesty fried chicken recipient would have worked well too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jokes on him, they put him on the show to make him look bad, he obviously was a threat to somebody who is running for mayor. hook. Line. Sinker.

    ReplyDelete
  26. What about the time Phil’s wife saw some ghetto punk in their backyard trespassing, so she let him in and and he robbed the place and stole their car? Did that really happen?

    ReplyDelete
  27. ^^^^What? He's married? Damn.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't think its that bad he went and appeared on a local cooking show. I probably wouldn't recommend he appear on a "Gangsta" anything while the city experiences ongoing crime issues. Nothing fatal about it. Big nothing burger.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Let me guess. He's another "Democratic Socialist".

    ReplyDelete
  30. Good grief, give the guy a break. He didn’t name the show, he was likely just invited to be a guest on it. And I don’t think the focus should be on what he chose to cook, but rather how he spoke about the city’s issues and what he thinks could improve them. Seems like a pretty decent guy to me. Definitely more likable than the other candidates.

    ReplyDelete
  31. A swing and a miss. I guess we could hate him for trying but it's more community interaction than Sly has had in the past 8 years.
