In April, Kansas City voters approved the renewal of a 1 percent sales tax to help pay for a new bridge. However, the new bridge project is not fully funded. The state needs to find an additional $50 million.

This year’s repairs cost $5 million. A $2 million study was also done at the same time to lay the groundwork for what is expected to be a $200 million replacement bridge.

The smarter denizens of our blog community have already figured out that KCMO taxpayers will be forced to pick up the tab.

  3. KCMO does not need a new airport. Just remodel/repair existing airport.

    Build the new bridge and Slie might have a small legacy.

  4. 102 million on 2 mile street rail; 300+ million borrowed for power and light district. City leaders dumbfounded about how to pay for replacing a bridge over Missouri River ....
