SHOCK!!! NEW KCI SINGLE-TERMINAL AIRPORT BECOMING BIGGEST FINANCIAL DISASTER IN KANSAS CITY HISTORY!!!

In response to our blog community FIRST NEWS about the airport deal falling apart, City Hall has been busy putting low-rent guarantees on blast in order to calm voters and a cadre of local contractors and lawyers depending on this deal.

A real talk summary of where KCMO stands . . .

- Despite cheap politico promises that no cash from the KCMO general fund is being used, LOOK CLOSER AND SEE the the city has already forked over $20-million and will soon need to re-up.

- Edgemoor is struggling desperately to hold onto this deal and if they don't get all of the airlines on board in a few weeks, they'll lose billions.

- The Use and Lease Agreement remains unsigned, until that happens, everything else we hear is just spin, hype and corporate deception.

    They hate it.
Come on Johnson County- build it before the rotund mayor makes KC a laughingstock and broke..

  7. The Entitlement. The Airport is all about participation of special interest groups, minority contractors and sub-contractors. This participation is fine until you lose accountability and price/performance which results in the normal course of business.
How much is this structure costing the City taxpayer?
Do City Council members care? These folks do not think about the outcome but rather the process. The Pigs have come to the troff and this is the problem with the Airport cost structure.
I say we dismantle this whole process and take another look at it in the future.

  8. now they are going to take money out of general fund to pay for the airport than pay it back just like pigs can fly what bullshit these people are

  12. If the City can't run the Water Department, Why do you think they can run an airport?

    ReplyDelete
  13. The City Council has a hidden agenda which has nothing to do with the airport design or cost.
It all about Entitlements and contract awards of a $1 billion plus in construction bids.

  14. lesser indeed

  15. i hate all edgemoor's renderings, they are just awful, the current airport terminals are just better architectural buildings than the crap they keep posting.

    ReplyDelete
  16. You rip those existing terminals down, legacy of embarrassment. You going to take the risk of ripping down the terminals based on the information they have presented, unbelievable.

  18. The reason this project is so expensive, and growing, is that the unions always need a new long term project to fund the massive wages the trades get in these deals. They don't want minorities getting anything. There is always a new and more expensive project on the drawing board to stuff the pockets of politicos and plumbers and pipe-fitters, millwrights, electricians, heavy equipment operators and others in the construction trades. Then there are the fire-fighters that have to get their cut too. When do we say "ENOUGH!" ? We need a mayor that will take care of the sewers and waterlines and streets. Not glamorous and only given lip service. That needs to be the focus of the next mayor and none of those running right now (except maybe Chastain) even try to fight for those items.
