A study that should pretty much doom a long delayed and troubled project that is the legacy of a disgraced politico and a completely corrupt slush fund. Take a look:
Completing the Rock Island Trail brings opportunity - but with a cost
A study by the University of Missouri Extension calls for the state to accept a donation of land and eventually complete the Rock Island Trail. The 144 miles of former railroad line would span from Windsor, Missouri, in the western part of the state to Beaufort in Franklin County, adding to the current hiking and biking trail.
It’s worth it but between the crooks at Jackson co. and kcmo there’s no money for what the people want, it’s all for developers and “friends” so much for momentum and moving forward.
ReplyDeleteFifty million dollars for abandoned roadway. Railroad should have donated for a tax break. Original intent of railroad eminent domain, of taking property, for right of way, was that upon abandonment by railroad property would revert to original owner.
ReplyDeleteMikey Sanders enduring rip-off of taxpayers and a future employer for a convicted felon.
^^^^good point. The railroad probably has a job waiting for him.
ReplyDeleteGive the land back to the adjacent landowners where it belongs.
ReplyDeleteAlso would need cameras and rangers to keep it safe for users. As we have found out, remote trails are ripe for bad thing happening. Always carry.
ReplyDelete3:20 is right. This trail passes through some back woods areas that could be from the set of Deliverance.
Deletefckn country can hardly, can't really, make a bike trail
ReplyDeleteMake the Amish ride their buggies on it and it'll pay for itself in wrecks MSHP no longer has to work.
ReplyDeleteTake a look at the slime within the KCATA. Robbie and his crew will be the next to fall in the kick backs and back room deal fall.
