In his last stint as Mayor, Sly James flipped the switch and to begin the Kansas City Plaza Light season in 2018 whilst political divisions grow increasingly deeper.
A quick stint as to where we stand . . .
- The Midterm election didn't settle anything, even in the face of the so-called Kansas "Blue Wave" objective observers will note that both left & right seem even more entrenched and hostile in their battle for control of the discourse. In Missouri, Republicans dominate BUT grassroots endorsements of initiatives like medical weed and a higher minimum wage show which direction the public is really moving.
- There is no clear KCMO Mayoral front runner and the underground gossip and hateration is growing more worse and mostly popping up in the comments of this blog.
- The Kansas City murder count is down for 2018 but homicides are still trending upward and our city's rate of deadly violence is one of the worst in the nation.
Moreover, on a holiday dedicated to sharing and kindness . . . The wretched, poor huddled masses yearning to breath free at the border are creating a crisis of conscience for all Americans.
Take a look:

On the bright side, a local consumer tradition endures an tonight we share a few songs to mark the occasion.
And so we share a quick playlist on the topic of light tonight . . .
Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. Hopefully, we'll have more for the morning update . . . STAY TUNED!!!
Last one to leave the plaza, turn the lights off please.
ReplyDeleteThe ceremony was pretty lame.

DeleteAgree, and not sure who was worse, Sly or Gary. Most people in the crowd looked pretty scuzzy too.
DeleteOver 3.5 million in attendance. The crowd spanned from Belton to Indian Springs. This was a monumental night for KC. So good that we think we heard somebody ask the mayor to drop a deuce on stage.
ReplyDeletewhat a show!
Here's a little inside scoop. Patrick Mahomes was asked to throw the switch, but declined due to KCP&L not offering an "honorarium" to do so.
ReplyDeleteHey, Pat, the Plaza Light Ceremony isn't a card signing.
^^^^^^^^^^ That's BULLSHIT. Mahomes was with his family and he doesn't need to beg for KCP&L money. He's a multimillionarie several times over. Go take that shit to your crap message boards or the wild man's suck blog. It's garbage that sounds like somebody in their 70s suffering dementia wrote it.
Delete^^^ hey dummy, he was being sarcastic, nobody else was asked to turn on the lights period. sLIE’s ego is so big that he said he deserved to throw the switch because no one else was worthy, he’s done so much to turn the plaza into a shithole that he wanted to rub in it their face one last time.
ReplyDeleteThere were 7 million people on the Plaza for the lighting.
ReplyDeleteI counted them.
It was the largest crowd ever to watch the the lights turn on in fact it was HUUUUUGGGGEEEE. Just ask Cadet Bonespurs people counter. Had to be 10-12 million at least.
ReplyDeleteThey were transporting tourists in from Iceland from KCI in massive caravans to witness this 9th wonder of the world.
ReplyDeleteThat migrant caravan was on their way here to watch it but Trumps border gestapo stopped it. Guess they should've left earlier.
ReplyDeleteSeal the border, charity begins at home.
