MIDTERM ELECTION #TBT POSTSCRIPT: KANSAS CITY ROYALS LEGEND GEORGE BRETT PROVES HE'S POLITICAL POISON!!!

Right now we must focus on local connection to the Blue Wave that was actually more of a squirt for those who understand the big picture.

And so we offer this shout-out to our evening readers who are concerned with local history and the discourse:

STRIKE THREE!!! KANSAS CITY ROYALS SLUGGER GEORGE BRETT GARNERED ANOTHER LOSS THIS ELECTION!!!

Proof . . .

This Kansas City star couldn't do much for Congressman Kevin Yoder and the November endorsement didn't mean much.

Last year, let's not forget that Mr. Brett failed to win an EPIC new KCI airport contract for the so-called "hometown team" of Burns & Mac.

Finally, readers shouldn't forget that Brett was targeted with criticism for advertising weird-ass snake-oil bracelets and necklaces that didn't exactly live up to their claims.

Obviously, we love to see the beloved slugger keep up his media profile and continue to inspire online meme remix classics.

However . . .

The lesson here is simple and maybe just a bit of inspiration to keep moving forward instead of living in the past . . . A George Brett endorsement is great for getting media attention but he doesn't have much power to sway votes . . . Which might be the most encouraging thing we've seen regarding local Democracy amid this election cycle.

You decide . . .

    1. George Brett, Bob Dole and Trump couldn't have helped Yoder. There was no way he was ever going to win because the Democrats had it in for him. They needed to flip congress and the money they threw into the race from new york and all over the country was massive.

  5. If you take the endorsement of a celebrity seriously, you’re a stupid fucker and probably a morally bankrupt homosexual.

  6. Tony, you have the wrong take on this one. I don't think George Brett has made a difference one way or another on any of the issues he has done ads for. Don't forget, Brett is a known quantity. He is not taken seriously on any issue save baseball. With respect to politics, George Brett is irrelevant. And rightfully so.

  7. Maybe it's because a lot of people that know or even just met him know he's an egotistical self-centered prick.

  8. True dat, 1021. Words right outa my mouth.

  9. 10:21 may have a point. Maybe Brett doesn't make any difference and is irreverent.

If so, then why does Yoder ask for his endorsement, film a commercial, then spend huge money to air in heavy rotation.

I guess that would make Yoder the biggest idiot of all to rely on Brett for his closing argument.

Just one more reason Yoder has been cut. Pack your bags and forget about spring training 2019. And people call Davids the stupid one.

  11. Brett isn't poison, Brownback is. For the eastern side of Kansas this election was a referendum on Brownback. Yoder had done his bidding and paid for it. I never even saw the Brett commercial. Fuck anyone who supports Brownback and his massive failure. Of course the rubes in the rest of Kansas voted for any moron with an R behind his name. Watch this Steve Watkins video, he is an idiot and cannot answer simple questions. Stupid fucking farmers have soybeans rotting in their fields because of Trump and of course voted Republican. All these small towns can thank Johnson County for saving their high schools because school closings were absolutely going to happen which would have been the final nail in the coffin for these places. Here's the video.

  14. Brett didn't endorse until like a week before the election. It's disingenuous to say that his endorsement had no influence when it was done so close to the election

  15. ^^^ Then why run any ads at all in the last week?

Ads work, which is why they are on the air. For this ad, Brett didn't deliver in the clutch.

Again, it says more about Yoder's lack of judgment that Brett was sent to the plate for the last pitch. Yoder needed to use his deeper bench and select a better pinch hitter. After all, Trump was available.
