Reality . . . Most students rely on cars but this effort debunks the local myth that the streetcar will help the campus now that the Downtown artsy project has finally collapsed . . .
Strategic plan may bolster student use of public transportation
Historically, UMKC has been primarily a commuter school, but in recent years the administration has worked to increase the number of students living on campus. Chancellor C. Mauli Agrawal announced the 2018-2028 strategic plan last month, which included a goal to increase enrollment.
The creation of the tax district for the Street Car extension from Union Station to UMKC would never have been supported or even proposed if the City Council members lived in this Taxing District.
ReplyDeleteThe incompetence of many council members is incredible and they should in no way be involved in the financial decisions of the City.
"KANSAS CITY TRANSIT NEWSFLASH: KANGAROO STUDENTS CAN USE THE BUS AND DON'T NEED MORE STREETCAR!!!"
ReplyDeleteNobody "needs" the streetcar, but if you think a little thing like that is going to stop all the graft that comes from building the fixed rail fair weather folly, I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you.
Looks like Botello has added UMKC to his “enemies list”; things in KC he has a pathological contempt for, which includes:
ReplyDeleteStreet Car
Downtown
Royals/Chiefs
The Northland
All other Suburbs
MoDOT
Some guy named Turner who works at MoDOT
Mizzou
Electric Scooters
......
^^^^What in this post indicates Tony holds UMKC in contempt? He's merely stating the fact that UMKC students get free bus passes, which makes the already redundant streetcar even more redundant.
ReplyDeleteThe corrupt City Council used UMKC student access as a selling point for the extension of the Street Car to UMKC.
ReplyDeleteThis was during and after the City wide vote which as it turns out went against the Street Car extension and was overruled by the corrupt city council.
This City Council is the worst thing for the Democratic party. I am a life long Democrat who would vote against these folks regardless of the other option I would have.
