FAKE NEWSFLASH!?! MORE DEETS AS TKC CHALLENGES FAKE NEWS AND CONSIDERS CONGRESSMAN CLEAVER'S ROLE AMID DEADLY FIERY CAR CRASH RESCUE!!!

Follow-up to most local news touting presser media drama after the fact and really not making much of a difference in the lives of local readers . . .

THE STORY ABOUT CLEAVER SAVING A DUDE FROM A CAR CRASH WAS FAKE!?!

Reality: The story was a lot more involved than what has been reported.

This contradicts most of the TV news after the fact and here's a quote from a lesser news source that doesn't merit linking given that this was all on FB in the morning for anybody who bothered to look:

In a recorded statement, Congressman Cleaver on Friday told television news, “We got him out. He was unconscious. We couldn’t even lift him completely up. We had to drag him out of the car. I held his head up because it was bleeding very badly.”

Later, his office would release an official statement softening the Congressman’s role. “I was just helping the same as every other person on the scene,” Cleaver said in the statement. “Tonight, my prayers will be for this man and his family during this holiday season.”

Turns out some other dude did most of the heavy lifting before Congressman Cleaver got there  . . . Then again, the Congressman was on the scene to help move the guy along and assist the rescue whilst trying to confront the damage on the scene. Even the skeptics are saying the Congress dude and his team got blood on their clothes and hands from their rescue assist . . .

Admittedly, any involvement at a crash site is more help than our TKC reader community would offer . . . As most urban core denizens simply lock their door and look directly forward when witnessing all manner of inner-city devastation.

UPDATE: JUST NOW HERE'S WITNESS TESTIMONY FROM THE SCENE OFF THE RECORD BUT STILL PROVIDING MORE INSIGHT THAN OTHER NEWS!!!

Here's the word:

"The Star has the situation completely wrong . . . The subject of their story clearly wants attention. 4th district at large candidate, Geoff Jolley was also on scene, responding with his fire team, as were countless EMS guys and at least two cops.

This “who the bigger hero” sh*t is stupid.

Media asked to confirm minutes after the accident, so someone had already told them Rep. Cleaver was there . .  .

The Star was late to the game, and did a hack job at a rewrite. Initially, Cleaver didn't want to be mentioned in the story.

The article should be about the guy who died, the family that he leaves behind, not about “who did more." People were yelling at the Congressman to get away from the burning car as he was trying to put it out, initially before the first call for help and then immediately after we got the guy to safety. Nevertheless, he was there as we were holding the guy bleeding from the mouth & head as we moved him. Congressman Cleaver did more than the 10 other people who were just standing around watching."

Thing of it is . . .

There's not a lot of political capital to be gained from this tragic tale.

The guy sharing his story admittedly has been "shaken up" and seems to be crying a great deal from his role in the experience.

The TV news blew up the coverage but that's not really surprising even the Thanksgiving news lull.

Moreover, pointing out  the contradictions of the Congressman story is only something that gives drunk uncles and partisan hacks pleasure . . . Translation: None of this will help Jacob Turk win his next contest against the Congressman.

And so we realize, just like Santa Claus, most of the stories we see and hear regarding political bravery are fake or at least totally overblown.

And all of this inspires our playlist tonight . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday Night.

Comments

  1. I think the timing of the story says a lot. Just like TKC said, we all knew this was fake yesterday and by the time the morning came around it was more than clear.

But MSM waits until Saturday night to release the details because most people are busy with family, drinking or their weekend porn game.

    That's life!

Except for the guy who died the crash.

Cleaver did more to help the guy than President bone spur ever did to help anyone. I expect Brietbart and Newsmax to make this their lead story for the next week. Only they don't link any K-pop or decent music. At least TKC has a couple of good song links he delivers with the bad news.

    1. I find that the TV news was accurate once the real story emerged and Congressman Cleaver's 2nd statement was reported accurately as well. I noticed the newspaper trying to do some follow-up reporting but the fact is they're a day late to the whole story. Just like always, they're covering day old news.

Already, some of the comments here gave me a much better chuckle.

    FAKE NEWS MEDIA STRIKES AGAIN!

  7. I initially chuckled at the local media falling over themselves to praise Congressman Carwash. Local media is simply TERRIBLE!

Why was I laughing? Because I recall Carwash having done this at least 1-2 times previously over the last few years. A similar incident was on Troost, I believe just north of 47th, he supposedly rescued or saved some guy. His office is very quick to contact the media with a story of his imagined heroics. Maybe on weekends a staff member drives him around town while they listen to a police scanner?

Local media cover for Carwash because he's black, a minister, and long-time rep for the East-side. They don't care that he's never been too bright, and is directly tied to failed projects like the 18th and Vine district, Green Impact Zone, etc. Besides, most local media players live in Kansas or the MO suburbs, so they figure he's not their problem.

  9. Remember when Cleaver claims he was spit on and called a nigger by Tea Party protesters? No tapes showed it.
The Rev. has a penchant for hyperbole.

So that black dude who runs around KC in a Superman costume is actually Cleaver. Got it.

  10. Car wash Cleave trying to be a good samaritan in hopes he will snag a Presidential Medal of Freedom and a Congressional Gold Medal.

  11. If Cleaver didn't want it mentioned then why did HIS office immediately put out a press release saying he saved someone from a burning car?
And the media couldn't wait to highlight this story without knowing the facts.

  12. Read the Star's news section with more than one grain of salt. They now add spin to nearly every story, and simply ignore things that don't fit their preferred narrative.
