The rush back to work Starts now and here are more than a few morning and mid-morning highlights to help our community.
But more than anything we ask our blog community . . .
HAS THE TENURE OF MAYOR SLY JAMES TAUGHT KANSAS CITY TO EXPECT SLOPPY AND DANGEROUS STREETS EVERY TIME IT SNOWS!?!
The side streets are still worth complaining about and the Sun offers more hope than most efforts administered by City Hall.
Also, checking the Kansas City Live Scout Cam is the greatest sign that you're getting old. Posting about it on social media or blogs is even worse . . . Still, there's no denying it provides a nice preview of road conditions.

We need to mention here that Kansas City has way more streets than Joco and it's fair that there is some lag. but over all the quality of local roads really can't compare and drivers can tell a big difference between the suburbs and kc streets. It's a complaint that will cost residents in terms of car maintenance and replaced tires. So it's very really and just a part of the why people need to ask their elected reps about street repair during the next election.
ReplyDeleteStreets in KC = only fit for the homeless.
DeleteToday is a day to try and be nice to people. Saw a man last night walking in Westport wearing nothing but some rags, a sleeping blanket and a back pack. Hoping he finds shelter somewhere because the cold and snow can make these streets even tougher for homeless who can get really desperate when facing the elements means risking their lives.
Delete6:11am I suggest that if the City cannot maintain streets and roads in Kansas City limits, then it should stop annexation and increasing its boundaries. That is fair. The expectation is that they clear the roads. This isnt a pissing contest with Johnson County. Its a competence issue amongst our elected officials. Year after year basic City services fail. Its not just snow removal. Its every other City "service" if you can call it that.
DeleteCrews did a good job overnight. Kansas side has more private snow removal. KC proper main roads and interstates are not too bad.
ReplyDeletePretty soon we'll call snow removal folks FIRST RESPONDERS!
ReplyDelete"I'm so proud of the first responders that drove headfirst into this snow, they knew the danger, but they proceeded anyway, and they made the rodeways safer for all of us. Can we have a moment of silence for our brave first responders?"
Snow Removal Heroes.
Citizens are reminded it is illegal to not shovel your sidewalks in KCMO and will be punished (fined) accordingly.

Delete@6:14 If the fair weather toy train had been operating on schedule the homeless person would have had a warm place to stay.
ReplyDeleteThe real eastside didn’t get any plowing that I’ve seen, the main streets are a disaster as usual, another complete cluster f@#k by city hall as far as I’m concerned
ReplyDeleteShut up loser! You haven’t been out of your hovel in decades! No problems in KC this morning.

ReplyDeleteKC STREETCAR RUNNING AND ON SCHEDULE! TRACKS CLEARS AND SHINY CLEAN!
ReplyDeleteCome on downtown, ride the streetcar, suck some dick at a gay bar, buy a t-shirt. Big city excitement at it's finest.

ReplyDeleteWhen Tiffany fell asleep dreaming of a hard 10-inches, only in the morning would she have regrets!!!
PRE-TREATED MY ASS, my street has seen nothing both snow falls - I doubt seriously we will even see a plow now that we have 2 inches of ICE. What a shit show of a Mayor living in a corrupt balloon. Is it May 2019 yet?
ReplyDeleteoh my god, 9:01. Kill yourself now before your misery becomes contagious.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Kyle James should run for Mayor.
ReplyDeleteAll you old geezers need to get a life! You can go from home to bars and other places to consume stuff on moments notice in this now great and vibrant city.
ReplyDeleteThere is more to it than just inept city services. The interstates (MODOT's terrain) are worthless as well. It appears crews did an admirable job clearing the snow but whatever salt was applied has been inadequate.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Oh God why? Why? The streets! My God the streets are sooooo bad! I mean I haven’t been out of the house in decades, but my God the streets!
ReplyDelete7:45, 8:16, 9:13, 9:34, & 11:19 (so far): Nice to hear from you Chris, and so often, but don't you have any work to do today?
ReplyDeleteClearly the city can’t handle a simple thing like snow removal unless it’s downtown, COMPLETE FAILURE. SAD.
ReplyDeleteAll four local T.V stations are referring to our Sunday 6" inch area average snowfall as the "blizzard of 2018" .and are all congratulating themselves and their weather forecasters for having 'the most "complete and accurate coverage" and let's not forget to "download our weather app". Ummm I might remind them that by my calendars there are still 5 (five) weeks left in 2018 and last time I checked Mother Nature operates on her own schedule. I wonder what kind of catch phrase they'll come up with if we get blasted again.
ReplyDeletePeople always gripe about snow removal. "my street unplowed ..." waaah. Why should city politicos bust their asses on this issue - the snow eventually melts and no one remembers it but if they make enemies out of public works employees by driving them really hard to remove snow they will have to deal with the bad blood all the time.
ReplyDeleteRadish, snowed in
The first responders did a fantastic job.
ReplyDeleteRadish, it’s the incompetence of their managers they get mad at, not the employees, the employees do what they’re told, remember that people
ReplyDeletebest strategy is to be sure you live on the same street as the director of public works eh?
