Hey Everybody, Here's A Silly & Clueless Kansas City Star Editorial On Housing

The list of objectionable misconceptions in this garbage content are too many to name . . . What's most important is that this piece is only written for about 2 dozen people and nearly half of them are running for Mayor . . . Meanwhile, the rest of KCMO lives their lives and surfs social media without depending on the "brain trust" of 12th & Oak when it comes to their living conditions. You decide . . .

Stop the gentrification of Troost and the Denverization of KC | The Kansas City Star

While Kansas City officials argued about which street to name for Martin Luther King, Jr. - and didn't even get that done - young professionals already priced out of the downtown area were moving in east of Troost and gentrifying neighborhoods like Beacon Hill and Squier Park.

  1. Development by The Star?

Didn't the just have to give up their own headquarters. Don't think they should be giving anyone real estate advice.

  2. Silly and clueless is the only way their editorials come.

  4. Absolutely the worst newspaper in the land, just plain clueless

  5. Beacon Hill and Squier Park have been being gentrified for years. Evidently the Star reporters don't get east of Troost often.

  6. Actually, most of the Star editorial board doesn't get east of State Line Road except to drive to work.
"Make KC into Brooklyn" is a losing strategy.

  7. Star reporters and editors are pussies.

  8. BUT BUT the democrats are for the working people! They will make it better for us by stopping all of the wealthy people from buying up these property's and getting free help from the city for doing this. Mayor James will get out with his bullhorn and put a stop to this big business. City hall democrats won't let this go on. They are for us the working man, not big business!

  9. Gentrification is a made up word that means, I want to live in a new and upscale place for free and you don't want to give it to me.

  10. The Star complains when not enough money is spent on the inner city. When money is spent to improve it, they complain about that too.

  11. 7:59 nails it. I have spent a significant amount of time in Denver in recent years and guess what, it's the same group complaining there about "gentrification" especially in the city's Rino neighborhood. Ironically the "long-term residents" of both the Troost corridor and Rino are of a similar demographic. It amazes me that groups like this have the mentality of the status quo being advantageous to new development and residents with actual money to improve the surrounding area moving in replacing the gangbangers, hookers, pimps, motorheads and tweakers. I guess it's better for these folks to live in a ghetto with all the associated troubles than try and improve their positions in life? Both Troost and Rino are good examples of areas that were destined to eventually turn around and change for the better as more people want to live in the city away from suburban life. The hood rats of big cities that are in good locations but bad neighborhoods should consider themselves to be on notice- the times they are a changing. If you want cheap rent, move out of the big city and to a place like Topeka. Not everyone gets to live in a nice condo downtown.

  13. ^^^ No doubt. I just moved here, got a job foaming Lattes and will be moving into a luxury apartment. My parents are okay with this until I become a famous Instagram celebrity.

  14. Jesus the star is retarded. They honestly could turn it down if they started offering any decent perspectives.

  15. Just more evidence that local liberals actually want and need to keep things segregated.

  16. Why anyone pays attention to leftist media dinosaurs like the Red Star anymore is beyond me.
