Johnson County homeless shelter forced to open early due to cold temperatures

An emergency homeless shelter in Johnson County has opened earlier than originally planned this year. With Sunday's blizzard, volunteers with Project 1020 opened a temporary shelter at the Branches Church at 13020 South Blackbob Road. "We panicked Sunday morning when it was so cold," Project 1020 volunteer Barb McEver said.

  2. The homeless in JoCo should all show up at the homes of the Star editorial board and tell them to put their money where their mouths have been.
Doesn't Steve Rose have at least a couple extra bedrooms in Mission Hills?

    1. He left Mission Hills for the new subdivision in PV where the old Meadowbrook Country Club used to be. Now that he’s a Democrat, living in Mission Hills just didn’t look right.

  3. Just wait until legal marijuana in MO takes off. Then see how many homeless are on every street corner; in every town large and small.

  4. I agree let the liberals take care of them! And don't forget to open the border and let more in, especially the ones who were burning the American flag and waving the Honduran flag. Sounds like they were refugees to me....NOT

How about it liberals, care to post your address for help? Dumb asses.

    Sharice Davids approves this message!

  5. Johnson county homeless? Are those the folks who can't afford a second home in the Virgin Islands or a timeshare in Cabo?

Next they'll be taking up a collection for the under privledged children in Overland Park whose parents can't afford the polo ponies...

    1. You apparently haven’t been to JoCo lately. The NW portion and parts of Olathe are like Grandview or Raytown. The only areas that still fit the JoCo stereotype are Mission Hills and Leawood.
