Edgemoor Seyz They're On Schedule For January New KCI Groundbreaking

A bold and exceptionally desperate claim from the embattled airport builder who is both over budget, already late and unable to put together a solid deal. Sadly, MSM runs their pressers without question or even a basic understanding of how the project is falling apart:

Edgemoor: Airlines getting second opinion will have 'minimal' impact on timeline

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The developer for the new terminal at KCI said there will be "minimal impact" on the project's timeline as the airlines get a second opinion on the cost and scope. On Tuesday, the airlines met with the city and its aviation department to express concerns and the desire to enlist another consultant to take a look at the terminal plans.

Comments

  1. The KCI project has about the same kind of timeline as the "development" in Mission, Kansas.
Over ten years after the initial "groundbreaking", it's still a big empty muddy field.
The laughingstock of the entire region.

  4. edgmoor wants to keep that contract. All they did was try to 'move' two existing terminals, turn them back to back, make signage more difficult/complicated, challenge the design with tight clearances, make it less convenient to dock a plane -way back to the second corner and around the corner to the front, make the airport as a facility less serviceable and less adaptable and less able to generate income from planes, make it all out of glass, use lame metaphors, talk about the expansive plains then wedge all the planes/terminals/parking into 1/3 of the site, put the city in debt causing an increase of city service charges and potentially subsequent violence due to monetary stress, turn leftover site into surface parking, and just leave the other two terminals as icons that we can watch deteriorate or rip down for 100s of millions to be sent to florida to build flood control and build more surface parking.
