TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY ECONOMY STAYS LOSING!!!

This cowtown has dumped HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS into toy transit schemes, corporate giveaways and shady development deals but so far it still hasn't paid off . . .

Why Kansas City Is Falling Behind Even As Its Economy Grows

Money line . . .

Kansas City ranks 26 out of 31 peer metropolitan areas in economic growth, according to the report. The area is expecting to lose 800 jobs when the Harley Davidson closes its factory in Platte County next year. In addition, Proctor and Gamble plans to shut down its Kansas City, Kansas, plant by 2020, costing the area another 280 full-time and 100 contract jobs.

The information industry, which has traditionally been important to the area, is also in decline. Overland Park, Kansas-based Sprint, for example, has lost thousands of jobs in recent years.

The good news is that fake economic progress isn't taking old elsewhere . . . Sadly, as we enter into silly season, politicos are promising to double down at get-rich-quick schemes that hope to spark growth or at least nice news stories.

Developing . . .

  1. but what about our 25 million tourists we welcome anally?

    Will they save us.

  2. But wait! No way! We have a narrow strip of subsidized development schemes!! This can't be happening!!

  3. If one were to sit down and make two lists, the pros and cons of living or wanting to have a company in Kansas City, honestly which list do you really think would be the one you would more than likely pay attention to?

  4. Nah, there was no better way to spend $120 million dollars than on a 1 mile long rail car that will never expand because there is no federal funding available for it

    Good job KC

Can't wait for JOCO to join us when the elect sharice davis out of white guilt

  5. If you start mixing KCK news and stats like P&G closing with KCMO data, you may have to combine the KCK murder rate with Sly Town's numbers.
Yes, the bi-state region is interdependent and economically linked, but mixing stats will take Killa City higher on the national murder rate list.

  6. more bike lanes and toy train to the Plaza will turn the economy around.

  7. At least all the high-tech Sprint jobs are safe!
    (They are, aren't they?)

  8. MAGA! We are winning so hard! All. this. winning!

  10. What’s that drunk driving quinton Lucas have to say about this? I demand to know!

    gopher boy....... where are you?

  11. When do we win? When does our President end the carnage in our American cities like he promised on day 1 of his administration?

    ReplyDelete
  12. @11:44am
As long as Lucas got drunk on very expensive Scotch and it was purchased by the taxpayers, a developer, campaign contributor, or a lobbyist, all it shows is that he has learned a lot about how to be mayor in KCMO.
It continues to amaze that this number of clowns can fit into that little car!

  13. DST headcount down
    Hallmark headcount down
    AMC moved out
Sprint probably to downsize, not substantial downtown

Cerner nowhere to be seen downtown

Our own companies don't want to be located there, or they are downsizing because they have been outmaneuvered by their competition

You don't see Black and Veatch or Burns and Mac down there

Yet we hold it up for all the out of towners to come and do what our own business leaders are certainly not doing

There is only so far you can go with pretend entrepreneur sugar water posturing. Toy train is a tourist freebie, not transit

  14. MAGA! Are you tired of all this winning yet?

    ReplyDelete
  15. OMG we need to be like our peers to be competitive! We need more trolleys, shake shacks, lattes, scooters!

Right there is the whole problem.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Don't worry! All the rich creatives and trust fund children are going to move into the luxury apartments, use the trolley, and buy lots of avocado and toasts!

  17. Let's just revisit this comment someone posted here a ways back.

"There are effectively no tools left for Sly and Crew to deal with another major crisis. They have no Plan B. They’re completely defenseless in the event of another economic shock. We should all take a moment to appreciate this level of incompetence. This doesn’t happen overnight. It usually takes decades of “blunder and neglect” to engineer financial vulnerability on this scale. But they’ve somehow managed to pull it off in seven years."

His tax scheme is the reason Harley closed shop and moved out.

Where are all those new manufacturing jobs???

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wrong 6:35 That decision was made long ago.

New manufacturing jobs? That's easy. Not in high tax KCMO!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Some crazy fuck seem to think that if he/she/it keeps trying to tie this shit hole shitty's failures to Trump, someone might believe it. Sorry shithead, this disaster is totally democrapic and homegrown.
