TKC MUST READ!!! KANSAS CITY STAR COLUMNIST STEVE ROSE ANSWERS TKC DECLARING: I AM A REPUBLICAN!!!

Even in blog form, the written word has more permanence and takes precedence over talk show chatter . . .

And so, last week our blog community asked . . .

Is Steve Rose Really A Republican???

And today . . .

IN SOME OF HIS BEST WRITING FOR 2018 - COLUMNIST STEVE ROSE DEFENDS HIS REPUBLICAN CREDENTIALS AND SHARES HIS PERSPECTIVE ON THE KANSAS GOP!!!

Citing numerous examples and cutting to the heart of the current crisis within his party, Steve Rose shares a thoughtful note that defines the current election season.

Take a look:

Steve Rose: Graves and Kassebaum are still model Republicans. But would today’s GOP accept them?

His main point . . .

"Those who have questioned my self-identification as a Republican have every right to express skepticism.

"I can say unequivocally that I am a Republican cut from the same cloth as Bill Graves, a moderate Republican who served as Kansas governor for two terms, 1995-2003. And I am 100 percent the same kind of moderate Republican as former Kansas U.S. Sen. Nancy Kassebaum, who served three terms, 1978-1997. We all three see the world from a similar point of view. And all of us are misfits in today’s Republican Party."

You decide . . .

  1. Not quite a Never Trump person but right on the border. Thing of it is, Steve's distaste for red meat politics is actually out of line with most Republicans. Those massive rallies aren't filled with moderates.

    1. ^^^^^^^^ You almost have it right.

Trump is the Republicans and the Republicans. Anybody who denies that does so at their own political risk. Even if they are "loyal" members o the GOP.

  2. Just like yesterday's moderate Democrats would be misfits in today's Democratic Party. JFK was more conservative than Steve Rose or any of his favorites.

  3. And so now he supports a carpetbagging ghost who may not even have a residence in the District and who dodges debates because she is not prepared. What kind of idiot supports a candidate who has to hide out so people don't find out what a whack job she is? And he wonders why the party dumped people like him? Who needs enemies when you have quislings like Steve Rose claiming to be a friend? No decent Republican will ever again accept his claim to be a Republican.

  4. I think he is lying.

  5. My view on republicans like Rose, is simply based on my belief that they are surprised that the GOP voters they have been hoodwinking for decades have at long last had enough of their theories of trade. You would have to have been asleep for thirty Years not to have noticed our manufacturing disappearing. Not to mention that the supposed leader’s of the republican party had more in common with the democrats than their own voters

  6. Actually I think Rose is a chicken like his sweetheart Sharice Davids. How he hangs on at the Star is beyond me. Send him to the Alzheimer's ward.

  7. He works at the Falling Star and he supports Sharice. He's not a republican. It's not like Yoder is a right winger. He probably really believes Sharice will "work with both sides", like she claims in her commercial too. I'll beleive him when he publishes an article in the Star endorsing the moderate Yoder. Come on Steve, prove it!

  8. if he can't even support a RINO, then no he's not.

remember, it's all about him being important though.

if he branded honestly as a radical-supporting dem, he'd be just another one of many. that's why he affects a different pose.

  9. The closet Democrat Socialist outted himself, end of discussion.

  10. He says he is a Republican but his actions say he is a cocksucker Socialist.

  11. Tony picks some crazy people to hitch his star to, Rose being no exception. How newsworthy is a geriatric Johnson County Jew?

  13. The problem is that the "moderates" in either party are so moderate that they don't show up to the long, boring, and generally uninformative meetings and events that constitute participation in political parties. It is more fun to attend wine and cheese receptions at the Country Club with fellow golf and tennis buddies. A good example was the Johnson County Republican Party organization that occurred last Thursday. The "moderates" didn't show up, didn't field a slate of candidates, and just did not participate. The "pro-life, right wing crazies" in the Republican Party and the "leftist commie socialists" in the Democratic Party do. Maybe Steve Rose was there, but I didn't see him. Yoder and Kobak showed up and gave their stump speeches. Lots of yard signs found a home that night. Politicians tend to dance with the ones who got them there. Where are the moderates when the party needs them?

  15. Rose is whatever the KC Star wants him to be. Though nobody even vaguely falls for this, the paper uses Stevie The Puppet to make the claim they have right-of-center representation on their editorial page; that makes them "balanced," don't you know.

Thus, a Rose by any other name still smells like a liberal.

  16. Poor 'ole Steve Rose.
He wanted so much to be accepted by the downtown Chamber swells, but they would never give him the time of day.
Then he tried desperately to become an insider in Kansas Republican political circles. No dice.
Next he actually tried to offer himself as a candidate for Congress, but got so little support that he dropped out shortly after announcing.
Now somehow he thinks he's going to become a part of the clueless millenial and do-gooder crowd by voting for a mysterious carpetbagging Native American lesbian.
Davids will lose, but either way, Steve's going to find that this group doesn't want him hanging around either.
Back to the country club bar!

  17. People forget that until the early 2000's Trump was a proud registered Democrat.

    1. So, you’re saying all that pussy he grabbed was when he was a Democrat? That won’t go over well with the #MeToo lying whores.

  19. "Those who have questioned my self-identification as a Republican have every right to express skepticism."
    -----Democrat Steve Rose

    He's a Republican...but hates President Trump.
    He's a Republican...but hated Gov. Brownback.
    He's a Republican...but hates future Gov. Kobach.
He's a Republican...but loves Sylvester "Tax and Spend" James.
He's a Republican...but loves liberal kook Sharice Davids.
    He's a Republican...but advocates for Democrat values.

Steve Rose is guilty of "cultural misappropriation", as in Republican culture.

  20. How does Rose remain at The Falling Star?

When he sold Sun Publications to the Star, he included a contract stipulation giving him the right to have a weekly editorial published by the Star.

It's a vanity thing, he doesn't get compensated, but it allows him to believe that he still has a voice in the broader community.
