KANSAS CITY STAR RAGE AGAINST KCPD TWEET AMID SHAKE SHACK SHOOTING!!! FAIR GAME OR SNOWFLAKE SCREED?!?!
Twitter war betwixt cops and media advocates for more accurate public information in the midst of a crisis . . .
Kansas City: For 33 minutes, KC police made every black male a suspect in the Plaza shooting
Argument:
The mid-afternoon incident created chaos in the city’s iconic shopping district. And while police acted quickly to keep the public safe, a tweet from the department’s official Twitter page was an unacceptable misstep.
For a brief time, the police department managed to label approximately 64,000 black males in Kansas City as suspects in the shooting. That’s exactly what occurred with this tweet: “We are still looking for one more subject of interest. The only description we have right now is a black male. So we ask everyone around the area to please be aware of their surroundings. And we continue to ask those who are not already @ThePlazaKC to avoid the area.”
About 33 minutes passed before officials released a more detailed description of the suspect. Police know better than to identify an entire group of people based on generic information.
That’s simply a mistake that should never happen. Officials must do a better job of relaying information to the public going forward.
And so we ask . . .
AGREE???
OR IS THE KANSAS CITY STAR PUTTING POLITICS ABOVE PUBLIC SAFETY AND UNFAIRLY SCOLDING POLICE FOR DOING THEIR JOB?!?!?
You decide . . .
There weren't 60,000 black males on the plaza.
ReplyDeleteThe star is reaching.
They should really sign their editorials so we know who is responsible for this stupidity.
It would reall be cool if 64000 black males were shot because they were suspects. Or even 6 would have been good.
ReplyDeleteThis is retarded.
ReplyDeleteI can’t count the number of times that I’ve heard police descriptions as vague as a “black male in a dark hoodie “ or “white male in his 20s”. Sometimes that’s all they have to go on. The KC (Fallen) Star isn’t fit to line a birdcage and the city will be just as well off when it breathes its last breath which has to be soon.
ReplyDeleteMost of those 64000 black males probably have warrants out for them.
ReplyDeleteThe red star really misses hoopz right about now, thank god she’s taken her worthless ass someplace else, I can just hear her and snatchez now screaming at the top of their lungs. Everybody but the red star knows that blacks are the problem and as long as there’s blacks, they’ll be problems. They ruin everything.
ReplyDeleteAs ridiculous (and predictable) as the Star has become, just wait until the police have body cameras and release videos of the behaviors that occur BEFORE those taken by bystanders during take downs and arrests.
ReplyDeleteThe whole BLM narrative screed is going to be turned on its head and the public will demand much more attention about crime from 12th and Oak and have a whole lot more support for the police.
The Star's so far off in la la land they really can't tell reality from their own silly narrative.
KC Star being the KC Star.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't wrap fish with it...
ReplyDeleteAnd the star wants $846.66 a year for a subscription, who are they kidding! Hahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteAmish fighting over a butter chern ?
ReplyDelete64,000 male hood rats descend on the Plaza......sounds about right. Let's do the math.
ReplyDelete64,000 Male hoodies and they each father at least 5 baby boons over the next 10 years.
That would be 320,000 fatherless baby boons by 2028. At least 40% of that lot would be "halfricans" as there is a bountiful number of fat white ho's that run the Plaza.
Conclusion: Omaha. U-Haul one way.
wELL dUH!
ReplyDeleteThey were looking for a black male so how is this unfair information? If it had been a white guy they would have said looking for a white male. But then the KC Star who are always looking for any reason to be the racist pot stirrers along with KCTV5 wouldn't have had anything to bitch about.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness it wasn't a female suspect, if they had said looking for a female suspect the KCPD would have been hit with thousands of sexual harassment suits.
Disagree. Just stating "beware there is an active shooter" isn't nearly as descriptive or effective as saying there's an "active shooter who is described as a black male" in a given area. Some information is better than none. It's no different than if the shooter were an Indian, a Hispanic or a white lady from joco.
ReplyDeleteIs it so much to ask that the KCPD offer better descriptions? It seems like this would help all of us. The Star is correct.
ReplyDeleteStupid racist comments, only one or two even come close to making sense. Sad.
ReplyDeleteWe have a right to a newspaper and a police force who are accurate and responsive to emergencies. So far, I only see the police at least trying to do their job correctly.

ReplyDeleteThe dead tree takes this position but in the past have the local and national media railed against the police and prosecutors giving description as "black male", black female, hispanic male or female etc. etc etc.
And 9:09 "is it so much to ask that KCPD offer better desciptions?" If you had even a pea size brain you'd know that in events such as this it's difficult to get a good description, even 33 minutes in to the incident. (DEAD TREE - TAKE NOTE) 1st reports of descriptions are often wrong and the public does have a right to know.....at some point.
This doesn't mean on a schedule that a soon to be defunct, so called media says they should. So called journalists don't have a right to tell the police how to do their job.
Maybe, just maybe Dead Tree Editorial Board, comprised of has been journalists should try to run their business while it's still has a platform, very small platform, but nonetheless, they want to be relevant and just keep getting in the way of themselves.....and they wonder why they fail
SUCCINCTLY, THE KC FALLING STAR SUCKS!!
ReplyDeleteCorporate media is CONSTANTLY promoting their agenda of inflaming racial tension. Almost every day in print and on television the media is hyping some story about how some white person mistreated a black person. They can't get enough of those stories!
They say Trump is a racist, the police are racist, the education system is racist, most retail establishments are racist, you and your neighborhood are racist, etc.
But you know who they never point a finger at? Themselves, the media.
The KC Star Editorial Board has 1 person of color, and he has the least seniority!
Fox4 has 1 black news anchor listed on their website!
KCTV5 has no black news anchors listed on their website!
KMBC9 has 1 black news anchor listed on their website!
KSHB41 has 3 black news anchors listed on their website!
Most KCMO local media SUCKS!
Let the harping begin, but A LOT of blacks do look so much alike that it’s hard to note any other distinguishing features. What if the cops had said a black male with dark hair, dark eyes and thin build. Does that really make it any better? Maybe for Fat Albert or Slie but no one else.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been very helpful to describe the suspect in this manner due to the fact that it is such an unusual circumstance that a Black male would be involved in a Kansas City shooting.
ReplyDeleteWould the KC Star have been upset if a the active shooter was white and was described in this manner?
KC Star.....Hhahahahahaha. What a joke of a paper.
The Star is worth every one of the $860 annual cost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous 10/19 @ 909. Do you realize the Police didn’t have a better description at the time, all they had was what they put out. As soon as they had better they updated it.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the shooter is still at large, the description is accurate and all are suspects until shooter's "homie" cooperates with police, and IDs the perp.
